In addition, after recording losses in 2022, Sands China and MGM China posted profits of $175 million and $105 million, respectively, while WinMacao reported a profit of $61 million in the second quarter of 2023 after losing in the first quarter of this year.

Macau's recovery was reportedly driven by popular markets rather than VIP gamblers. It may also be the result of extended casino closures and pandemic-induced restrictions pushing people in mainland China's GDP up nearly 39%.
