On behalf of JSD Distrital de Santarém, on pollution of the river Tejo in Portugal

The petitioner complains about the pollution caused on the river Tejo by the pulp mill industry, which allegedly has led to high mortality of aquatic species present in the river and was facilitated by the complicated and inefficient environmental legislation and the negligence of the Portuguese authorities. He argues that the data concerning waste emissions should be made public by the judicial authorities investigating the case, as required by the Aarhus Convention, and asks, inter alia, for the update of waste emission limits.
