New York Governor Kathy Hochul believes her office deserves no criticism for how it handled the new Class III game compact negotiations with Seneca Nation of Indians. She recently said the state is back in negotiation with the Nations. But she rejected herself from the discussion because of a potential conflict of interest. 슬롯머신
She was excluded from the negotiations because her husband, William Hochul, is a senior vice president and general counsel at Delaware North. The company operates gaming and food services for Finger Lake Gaming & Racetrack in Farmington and Hamburg Gaming in upstate New York. The area is close to tribal casino operations and the two are considered competitors.
Governor Hochul gave the latest news over the weekend after being relatively quiet in negotiations between the state and Seneca. Governor Hochul said from the outset that he had kept his promise not to state his position on tribal agreements, delegating responsibility to cooperate with Seneca countries that rejected him and wanted confidentiality.
She said the process was starting again and noted that there would be further communication. The government has expressed that her team is eager to develop an agreement that benefits everyone and has made it clear that is the current situation. But she stressed that she was not involved in negotiations, timing or discussions with others about the agreement.
The state legislature recently decided not to agree to a tentative agreement between the state and the tribe, which prompted Seneca Nation President Rich Armstrong to criticize the governor for failing to communicate discussions with relevant state legislators and local officials in Rochester. He accused the governor of deliberately delaying the small renewal in a way that benefits northern Delaware.
A tentative agreement between the Empire State and Native American tribes suggested opening casinos in Rochester. However, employees of Del Lago, Batavia Downs Gaming and Hotel, and Finger Lake Gaming and Racing came out to protest the proposed site. Everyone involved was concerned about the impact and impact on the region.
Although the new gaming deal was not passed by the state, the governor informed her office was back to square one with the state to find new conditions that would benefit both the state and the tribe. She believes both sides are recruiting their best talents to address the issue, and they will continue until good results are achieved for all parties involved.
The recent small discussions have come on the back of a major conflict between the two sides, as Seneca previously suspended allocation of games to the state. Not long ago, the tribe noted that the jurisdiction had violated its monopoly in the area and stopped paying. To help with the tribe's case, they launched campaigns such as Stand With Seneca to raise awareness.
