New tournament in Rugby

We, the rugby fans from the rugby Tier-2 and Tier-3 countries participating in the European Championship under the auspices of Rugby-Europe, express our indignance that the men’s national teams of our countries are not given the opportunity to be integrated in the official regular tournaments with the flagship rugby Tier-1 countries, especially since the geographical location allows it. In particular, the six strongest European Tier-1 rugby countries do not participate in the fight for the title of the European Championship.

We hope that true rugby fans from Tier-1 countries will support us and join our appeal.

It is clear to us that at this stage the Six Nations tournament is the most important for the participating teams, but it is also clear that for the promotion and development of rugby throughout Europe, annual matches between the teams participating in the European Championship and the Six Nations within the framework of the official tournament are necessary.

We take into account the ratings of the teams and the difference in the quality and level of the game, the scarcity of free time for Tier-1 teams

We appeal to World Rugby officials to organize an annual men’s official fours tournament, where the fifth and sixth placers of the Six Nations Tournament and the first and second placers of the European Championship will participate and the annual Europian Cup will be played. Within the framework of this tournament, a total of four matches will be held in two rounds, and the results of the teams played in the respective tournament of that year will follow. If we take into account that in addition to the official tournaments already in place for the national teams, the appropriate time and window is already allocated for six test games every year, a mini-tournament can easily be held during this test window. The meeting place can be easily determined in advance: Given the desire to increase sports interest, the host will always be the lower ranked team.

We hope that our proper request will be taken into account and an interesting and important official annual mini-tournament for men will be organized.
