Malaysia's National Recovery Commission (NRC) has proposed fully opening its borders without mandatory quarantine for international travelers from March 1, local media reported on Tuesday, citing remarks by former prime minister Muhidin Yasin (file photo). 카지노

Resort World Genting, run by Genting Malaysia Bhd, is the only casino complex in Malaysia. The site was a destination for foreign tourists before the COVID-19 pandemic.

A new 3.3 billion MYR (US$789 million) theme park at Resorts World Genting, branded as Genting SkyWorlds, had a "soft opening" on Tuesday. Maybank Investment Bank Bhd said it expects the new park to bring more and more business to the complex.

Malaysia has imposed travel restrictions on arrivals since early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Local media quoted Yasin as saying that under the inbound international tourism mitigation plan, travelers will still need COVID-19 screening before and after their arrival.

"The NRC recommended that the borders be fully opened in due course to support the country's recovery," the commissioner said.

In other developments, bus and plane ticket sales between Malaysia and neighboring Singapore resumed on Jan. 21 under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme, after the scheme was suspended in late December over concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 variant Omicron.

Singapore's VTL scheme has allowed fully vaccinated travelers to be tested for COVID-19 instead of quarantining, traveling between two locations and between Singapore and other destinations.
