In conjunction with the tactic of 'total football', which is essential in modern soccer, the importance has emerged even more. Total football refers to a tactic in which all field players participate in both attack and defense. Defenders are now required not only to defend but also to attack. 
Then which team uses fullbacks the best? Germany's Bayer Leverkusen can be cited. The team is the only team in the top five leagues with 20 wins and four draws in 24 matches in this season's league. Both fullbacks have shown amazing performance here. Left-back Alex Grimaldo is second-leading in scoring and scoring the most offensive points in his team, with nine goals and nine assists. The culmination of their duo's performance is the 2019-20 season. Robertson and Arnold led Liverpool with three goals and 12 assists, four goals and 15 assists, respectively, and took the lead in lifting the league's first trophy in 30 years. In addition, they brought numerous trophies to their teams, including one UEFA Champions League (UCL) championship and one FA Cup championship in England.
