Lim Sung-jae (27, CJ) thanked Justin Thomas (30, USA).
Thomas posted a photo of himself working out with Lim Sung-jae at the gym on his SNS ahead of the Genesis Invitational in February, hinting that Lim Sung-jae is working out hard.
When Im Sung-jae showed a slowdown on the PGA Tour recently, some raised suspicions that Im Sung-jae might be suffering from a side effect of increasing his exercise amount. Kim Joo-hyung (22, Nike), who was not listed in the top 10 for a while in the middle of the season last year, said, "As I increased my weight exercise, my muscle mass increased, and my swing speed increased, and the overall swing rhythm was blurred." 안전 토토사이트
Im Sung-jae was in a similar trend. In 12 PGA Tour competitions this season, Im Sung-jae won top 10 only once, but failed to make the cut in two of the three PGA competitions in a row, shrinking his pride.
However, this was unfortunate. "I didn't increase my workout much," Lim Seong-jae told reporters at an official press conference ahead of the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Woori Finance Championship that opens at the Yeoju Ferum Club on Monday. "I think I wrote that because I went to the same gym," he said. "He encouraged me even before the game and took good care of me."
Thomas is five years older than Lim. Last season, Thomas failed to advance to the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which can accommodate the top 70 players at the FedEx Cup, due to the worst slump in history, but this year he has been making a comeback by participating in nine PGA Tour events and ranking in the top 10 for three times. Last week, he overcame failure to make the Masters cut to join Im Seong-jae and successfully rebounded by ranking joint fifth (Thomas) and 12th, respectively, at the RBC Heritage.
Im Sung-jae is determined to win this tournament as the defending champion and continue his good momentum until the rest of the season. Im Sung-jae, who returned to Korea on the 22nd, two days ago to participate in the tournament, said, "I'm going to drink coffee that I don't usually drink in the tournament to adjust to the time difference," and added, "If I succeed in defending the title, I think I'll be able to perform well in the PGA Tour tournament."
"I performed poorly due to poor performance in mid-term short games, poor putts and poor score management," Lim said. "I still have a feeling. I raised my ranking in the FedEx Cup a little bit while ranking 12th in the special competition last week, and I have a lot of important competitions left in the remaining season, so I'm looking forward to it."
Lim Sung-jae is currently ranked 42nd in the world, the third highest among Korean players after Kim Joo-hyung (23rd) and Ahn Byung-hoon (40th), and he has to overcome Ahn by June 17 to compete in the Paris Olympics in August. Lim Sung-jae vowed, "Ahn Byung-hoon has been doing really well these days, and I want to do my best until just before he starts. If I compete in the Olympics for the second time in a row, I will do my best to win a medal, considering it a great honor."
Scottie Scheffler of the U.S., who is ranking first in the world this season, was another hot topic of conversation. "Iron shots are important in order to survive in the PGA Tour, but honestly, I need to have good tee shot distance and accuracy in both short game and putt. Scheffler works really hard. He trains an incredible amount of time and practicing short game almost every day. I do a lot of short game training, but I do it more than I do. I am a player who has special abilities ranging from ball control, short game, putt to mental and physical."
Lim Sung-jae said, "I have to go to the U.S. right away for the CJ Cup, which is hosted by the main sponsor next week, but since I am here in Korea, I want to show my fans a lot of better shots and deliver joy to them. I will do my best for the next four days with this mindset. It would be great if I win the championship, but I want to play while enjoying the game."
