About 300 people in China's Chongqing city have been arrested by local police in Shappingba, the Chinese news agency reported on Monday, while about 300 were reported to have interfered with the operation of "cross-border gambling" related to games "live-streamed at overseas casinos."

It did not mention the location or name of the foreign venue. 에볼루션 바카라사이트

However, the police were quoted as saying that the crackdown was related to more than 10 cities in mainland China. The report claimed that "seven gambling platforms" and "20 gambling halls" were destroyed. The police believed that the latter was a place where people gathered to make bets.

Cash generated in a region of western China's Sichuan province is "over 400 million yuan (about $55.9 million)," the media outlet quoted Shapingba local police as saying.

Police believed "thousands of Chinese gamblers" from the mainland were lured to participate through ads promising "virtual experiences of overseas casinos" and "off-line settlements of immediate bets."

An investigation is underway, the report said.

In recent years, various government departments in mainland China have issued statements cracking down on citizens traveling abroad for casino play or engaging in betting. China's revised criminal law makes it illegal to help others. It has been in effect since March 1, 2021.
