On behalf of ‘Ecologistas en Acción’, on plans to combat pollution in Madrid (Spain)

The petitioner condemns the attempts by the regional government of the Community of Madrid to ‘torpedo’ the Madrid City Council’s efforts to curb air pollution in the city. He is unhappy that Madrid’s regional government has brought an administrative action before the relevant court in the Community of Madrid (the Superior Court of Justice) against the sustainable mobility bylaw, and against the ‘Madrid Central’ plan – a series of measures to restrict access to the city centre for vehicles. The petitioner calls on the European Parliament to urge the Community of Madrid to comply with EU legislation on air quality.
