Reason
“I’m so sorry,” Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola bowed his head. It's interesting that midfielder Calvin Phillips, who was a former player but left on loan to West Ham United this winter, is the target.
BBC reported on the 20th that Guardiola apologized to Phillips for mentioning weight problems.
“I’m sorry,” Guardiola told Phillips. "I apologize to him. I'm truly sorry."
Guardiola explained why he excluded Phillips ahead of the fourth round of the Cup against Liverpool in December of that year, shortly after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, saying he was "overweight."
Guardiola emphasized players' self-care, but it was a big shock for Phillips.
Recalling the time, Phillips said on Friday that Guardiola's past comments about being overweight had "hit his confidence hard." Phillips moved to West Ham on loan in January this year as he fell behind in the race to become a starting member of Manchester City.
Phillips has yet to show satisfaction despite being loaned to West Ham. He played a key role in the 0-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest on the 18th after being sent off with two warnings every three minutes. It's fortunate that he played in West Ham's uniform for a month (four games) is the same as Manchester City's this season. 안전놀이터
