To the attention of the CEO of ST Microelectronics J.M. Chery

We want to bring to your attention our considerations with regards to smart working. ST has used smart working widely through the first and most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic Smart working has made it possible to protect the health of ST workers better but also to continue the activities necessary for the survival of ST in a global context of economic crisis and to experience smart working in areas other than those traditionally considered ideal. In our opinion, the experience was a positive one, and we believe many ST managers share our opinion as they made explicit in their communication meetings. Smart working is one of many ambitious goals our company have set itself for industry 4.0, and on which it is investing vital economics resources. Unfortunately, however, in recent weeks, we have seen a recall of most of the smart working employees to work from their offices all around Europe. It is in clear contradiction with what the corporate itself claims in its information campaigns against COVID-19. Less smart working means a reduction in the pandemic precautions that could put ST employees at when the health crisis is still here today. Therefore, we appeal to you and your staff to make better use of smart working in our various sites. Smart working helps improve life-work management, reduction of the environmental impact due to mobility and most important at this time it remains one of the most effective tools to contain infections. We invite you to look to the future with us, bringing ST to a more modern work organization that is friendly to the environment and people.
