Subject: Request for Review and Improvement of Galilei Residence Conditions

Dear Sir/Madam,

We, a group of international students residing in Galilei Residence at Politecnico di Milano, would like to share our concerns regarding the current living conditions. 

Our aim is not only to express complaints, but also to respectfully request improvements that would enhance the quality of life for students.

Unfortunately, the current state of Galilei Residence, especially in comparison with other university residences, falls short of the expected standards.

We will also highlight the following issues to our close contact at Equitix.

Some of the main issues include:

* Old and worn-out furniture in the rooms (beds and chairs)

*Damaged room equipment such as curtains and coat hooks

* Dirty walls in some rooms, including mould 

* Dirty mattresses, pillows, and towels, and extremely old blankets

* Kitchen with only one 4-burner stove per floor

* Broken and unusable tables and chairs in the kitchen area

* Lack of cabinets and dish-drying racks in the kitchen, forcing students to store food and utensils in their rooms

* Lack of shelves or cabinets in the bathrooms for storing personal items

* Very outdated entry/exit system: each student must leave their physical key at the reception and collect it again upon return, while in other residences modern electronic card systems are used

* Inappropriate behavior from some reception staff, specifically a man named Oscar (such as throwing keys at students, shouting, intimidating etc. )

In other residences, however, students have access to more modern kitchens with proper cabinets and dish racks, clean and well-maintained furniture, modern access systems, and overall more comfortable living conditions. 

This sharp contrast highlights the urgent need for improvements in Galilei Residence.

We fully understand that student housing has its limitations and cannot make basic changes( changing bathroom, ventilation system, Tv room, game room and Gym which all have huge problems). 

Nevertheless, given that Politecnico di Milano is recognized as one of the top universities in Europe and the world, we believe that living conditions for international students who are away from their home and family should reflect that standard and what we shared seems urgent. 

With some relatively simple changes, Galilei Residence could become a much more suitable and comfortable place for students.

It is important to emphasize that the quality of student housing directly affects not only everyday comfort, but also students’ morale, focus, and consequently their academic performance. 

We kindly request that the current situation be reviewed and that the necessary improvements be prioritized.
