Der Name hat nichts mit der örtlichen Identität zu tun. Laut Straßenbenennungsrichtlinie sind außerdem geografische oder historische Begriffe vorzuziehen. In Graz gibt es bereits einen Wartinger-Weg, mit diesem besteht Verwechslungsgefahr, trotz Anhang des Vornamens. Die Anwohner hätten lieber einen neutralen Namen ohne Personenbezug.

Richtlinie Stadt Graz: GZ.: A10/6-154194/2022/0002: Für Neubenennung v. Straßen sind vorrangig - Geographische und historisch begründete Namen zu verwenden. Doppelbenennungen Diese sind grundsätzlich zu vermeiden. Ähnlich klingende Namen, die mit bereits existierenden Benennungen verwechselt werden können, sind zu vermeiden. Personennamen Bei d. Wahl von Personennamen ist nur d. Familienname zu verwenden KEIN Vorname. Es gibt eine Wartingergasse. Somit Verwechslung. Wozu gibt es Richtlinien?
