Park Tae-joon won the withdrawal victory over Gashim Magomedov of Azerbaijan in the men's 58kg taekwondo final at the 2024 Paris Olympics at Grand Palais in Paris, France on the 8th (Korea time).

She became the first Korean gold medalist in weight class to win an Olympic gold medal. Previously, Lee Dae-hoon (coach of Daejeon City Hall), who won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics, was the best record.   안전놀이터

At the Paris Olympics, Park Tae-joon also washed away South Korea's 'no-gold' regret at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Park Tae-joon succeeded in attacking his torso from the first round to gain the upper hand. With about a minute left before the end of the round, Magomedov complained of pain in his left shin during the kick. Magomedov returned from the break, but failed to reverse the trend of Park Tae-joon.

Leading the first round 9-0, Park overwhelmed the player 13-1 in the second round, solidifying his spirit of victory early on. Reeling from Park's body kick about a minute before the end of the game, Magomedov attempted to run away by turning his body around. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Park once again pushed Magomedov to the ground. At the time, audience booed Park. The booing was interpreted as a harsh kick to a player who was injured.

Park Tae-joon showed a warm image of helping Magomedov when he was on the podium.

After winning the gold medal, Park Tae-joon explained his behavior just before the end of the game, saying in a broadcast interview, "I learned that it is polite to the opponent to do his best until the opponent withdraws."
