On the humus content of land used for agriculture

The petitioner claims that a 1% increase in the humus content of the soil would result in the removal of 10 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. CO2 emissions and erosion would thus be reduced, with a corresponding increase in the fertility and water absorption of the soil. The necessary humus should ideally be sourced from land in each region concerned. The petitioner calls for his idea to be supported by financial assistance for farmers.
