On a LIFE project for the conservation of a fish species in Italy

The petitioner expresses reservations regarding a project for the conservation of carpione (salmo carpio), a fish species at risk of extinction in Lake Garda (project LIFE18 NAT/IT/000957-LIFE SCIPIONE). He maintains that scientific knowledge of the species remains practically nil, despite the considerable resources devoted to it. He is accordingly seeking a review of the Scipione project in a bid to avoid the risk of undermining biodiversity and the ecosystem, which would run counter to the objectives pursued in the Life Regulation.
