Korean-American Kim Chan and PGA Puntakana tied for 6th place...Second 'Top 10' Debut, PGA Puntacana

Korean-American Kim Chan (34) scored his second top 10 of the season at the Corrales Punta Cana Championship (total prize money of $4 million) on the PGA Tour.

Kim Chan shot a 7-under-par 65 in the fourth round on the last day of the tournament at Puntacana Resort and Club (par 72) in Puntacana, Dominican Republic, on the 22nd (Korea time), tying for sixth with a 16-under-par 272 total. Kim Chan, who rose 13 places from the previous day, tied for eighth, the only top 10 player since entering the PGA Tour at the Mexican Open in February, but broke his personal record in this tournament.

Born in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province in 1990, Chan moved to Hawaii in the U.S. with his parents at the age of 2. He first learned how to play golf at 12, and then moved to Arizona, the U.S., where he continued his career in earnest. In high school, he rose to No. 4 in the AJGA rankings, and turned professional in his second year at Arizona State University.

Starting with the Canadian tour after his professional debut, he went through various stages such as Japan, Asia, and Conferry, and succeeded in advancing to the PGA Tour this year for the first time in 14 years. He won eight games in Japan and won a PGA berth last year by ranking second in Conferry Tour points.

Kim Chan, who made his PGA Tour debut, has yet to show any remarkable performance, but he has successfully made the cut for the eighth consecutive time so far this year, and is recovering. He is on the rise to tie for sixth place in the event after tying for 14th at the Texas Open in Valero earlier this month.

Billy Horschel of the U.S. achieved his eighth win in the tournament. Horschel, who shot a 9-under 63, won the tournament with a 23-under 265 overall, beating second-place Wesley Bryan (21-under 267). The prize money is $720,000 (W990 million). Horschel won the tournament for the first time in about two years since the Memorial Tournament in June 2022.

Kim Sung-hyun finished the tournament tied for 36th with a 9-under 279 overall, and Lee Kyung-hoon tied for 40th (8-under 280).
