The rapid escalation has meant that millions of innocent civilians did not have time to escape and many remain trapped, hurt, homeless, hungry and under siege.
The problem is particularly acute east of the Dnieper river. Bridges have been blown up, roads have been mined, public transport has been damaged and stopped running, while private transport has been burned.

The rapid escalation has meant that millions of innocent civilians did not have time to escape and many remain trapped, hurt, homeless, hungry and under siege. The problem is particularly acute east of the Dnieper river.
