Petition richtet sich an: Fontys Executive Board

We call upon Fontys Venlo University of Applied Sciences to reinstate Spanish as an elective course for supplementary credits with the following requirements:

Minimum one-semester duration
Available for supplementary credits toward graduation
Open to all students
Implementation in September of 2026

This investment will enhance student employability and position our graduates competitively in the global job market.

Begründung

Spanish is spoken by 580+ million people across 21 countries. It is the world's second most spoken language and high in demand for careers in healthcare, education, business, tourism, and international trade.

Proficiency allows for direct communication with Spanish-speaking clients, partners, and colleagues, building trust and strengthening relationships therefore a huge asset in our business studies.

We request reinstatement of Spanish as an elective course for supplementary credits. In a competitive 2026 job market, Spanish proficiency is no longer optional. It's a strategic investment in your future.
