Petition is addressed to: an Oireachtas

We, the undersigned, demand that Maria Steen, a qualified independent candidate, be placed on the 2025 Irish Presidential Election ballot. The nomination deadline is 24 September 2025. Despite support from 10 Oireachtas members, including Sharon Keogan and Carol Nolan, Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are blocking her to favor establishment candidates.

This undemocratic behaviour denies voters a choice. Maria Steen, a barrister and architect, is the people’s choice for her commitment to family and constitutional values.

Why It’s Important: In my opinion the Oireachtas is rigging the election to suppress Maria Steen, fearing her widespread support among faith communities and those fed up with elite control. Party leaders are blocking independents, with moves like Independent Ireland’s refusal to nominate without 16 prior signatures. As Irish citizens, we reject this attack on democracy. Spoiled votes, recorded separately, will echo past protests and show we won’t be ignored.

Register to vote by 7 October (checktheregister.ie). Nominate Maria Steen now!

Reason

In my view the Oireachtas is rigging the 2025 Presidential Election to block Maria Steen, an eminently qualified candidate who could win, denying Irish voters a fair choice. This cartel-like control threatens democracy. Spoiling votes, and registering your objection online will be seen as our refusal to accept this rigged election!

Thank you for your support, Francis Mc Neill, Falcarragh
