Brendan, Ewelina & their 2 young children Mia & Colin have been evicted from their Family Home in Brittas Co Dublin.

Brendan, a young father aged 44, has been advised he will face a custodial sentence if he does not remove the modest log cabin he has built on family land held for generations.

Brendan & Ewelina have moved their young family out of their only home they have ever known due to the fear of Brendan going to prison.
They are staying with a family friend.

Thankfully Mia & Colin can remain in the same school in Brittas, the same school that Brendan attended as a child.

The South Dublin County Council have refused Brendan & family on numerous planning retention applications and have advised they are unable to provide alternative accommodation.

Brendan is intrinsic to the area of Brittas as he was born and reared and working locally for local businesses as a qualified Welder with a genuine need to live in Brittas.

You can listen to Brendan & Ewelina's struggle to provide a home over their children's head on family land on Gript Media and other online platforms.

We are organising this petition to rally as many signatures as we can to present to the South Dublin County Council and all affiliated County Councillors to work with Brendan and his family to allow Brendan to KEEP his family home at no additional cost to the state and allow his family to stay in their home, where it is all they have ever known.

Home is where their story began, and Brendan & Ewelina are fearful of where their story will end.

Why people sign

To whom it may concern,

This petition is an extremely important way for me to ask that this lovely, hard working couple with a young family not be made homeless.
I hope that my words of support will be treated equally to any of objection.

The day I visited the couple I had to ring and ask Brendan to come out to show me where the cabin actually was. I had driven up and down the lane by it a few times thinking I'd see the cabin, but it was completely out of view from the road.

The cabin was a modest size beautifully presented, it blended into its surroundings perfectly and had a welcoming atmosphere. The kids were happy and only seconds away from their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and school. So clear to see the family belongs there.

Brittas has lost it's pub, shop, Mass on Suday and quarry in the last few years.
Perhaps a support platform such as this could have in some way helped keep life in Brittas. Point being Brittas can't loose anymore of it's assets and this family is a great asset.

Hopefully more people who are warm and cosy in their actual houses will submit a petition of support that might just open the eyes of the powers that be, resulting in the couple being shown a bit of humanity, understanding and compassion.
