Dear colleagues,
We come back to you with some news about ongoing campaigns against the complicities in collaborations and partnerships with institutions involved in crimes of genocide in Palestine.
First, we invite you to a conference today Friday 6th at 18h30 in Sorbonne University, Campus Pierre et Marie Curie, to discuss the French academic response to Israeli crimes, particularly the boycott of Israeli academic institutions. Professors, anthropologists and researchers will bring their perspective on these aspects. You will find attached the detailed information of this event.
***Call for gathering action on the week of 18-19th February in front of Institut Pasteur at noon***
Moreover, we have adhered the campaign ‘Sop Complicit Research’ gathering multiple collectives in French universities and research institutes, to oppose the complicity of research with imperialist and fascist corporations that support colonial projects, and to denounce partnerships with corporations funding armament industries and colonial entities.
As Israeli airstrikes killed again tenths of Palestinians on past 31sth of January, after more than 600 deaths since the so called ‘ceasefire’ on past October 2025, Israel perpetuates its colonial and genocidal campaign.
In France, many universities and research institutions collaborate with companies complicit in the Palestinian genocide or brutal colonial projects, such as Safran, Thales, Socfin, etc. The development of project-based funding and agreements with the private sector allows them to absorb public research in the name of the race for power and profit.
In Pasteur Institute, we will continue to denounce the long-term partnership with the Weizmann Institute of Sciences in Tel-Aviv, an institution with well-documented relations with the Israeli military (direct and through trainings and related foundations), military industries (Elbit System, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems). Moreover, in the past years, researchers from Weizmann Institute have received the “Defense Israel prize” for their involvement in the defense of Israel and inputs for its intelligence agencies like Mossad. You can read the full report on the Weizmann Institute here: https://academiccomplicity.fr/pdf/Rapport%20dec%202025.pdf
Moreover, we call to bring end to the ties between BNP bank and Pasteur Institute. BNP is a major financial corporation known for its funding of the armament industries, and notably has funded the Israeli weapons company ‘Elbit systems’: https://www.lemonde.fr/economie/article/2024/08/09/bnp-paribas-finance-le-geant-israelien-de-la-defense-elbit_6274140_3234.html
We call all colleagues like us outraged with the silence and complicity with this situation to join us and spread the word denouncing these collaborations and the links of Weizmann and BNP with genocidal campaigns.
More details will be diffused next week!

Dear signatories,
Following the negative response from the Direction to our requests, we are contacting you again to invite you to a gathering this *Thursday, November 20th at 12:00 PM in front of the CIS building* to reaffirm our conviction that we refuse to be complicit in genocide. We demand a clear stance from the Pasteur Institute and the cessation of all collaborations with institutions of a state, Israel, that is committing genocide against the Palestinian population. Please come in large numbers this Thursday! Spread the word to your colleagues! -

Dear petition supporters,
We are getting back to you with an update on the answer by the Director of Institut Pasteur, Professor Yasmine Belkaid, regarding our petition. Through this initiative, we asked the Institut Pasteur direction to meet us to discuss the end of the collaborations between the Pasteur Institute and the Israeli institutions. This action seeks to apply direct pressure to the Israeli state, which is currently perpetrating a genocide on the Palestinian population.
Our demands were not taken into consideration, and we were not given the possibility to meet with the Direction and discuss this matter. You will find attached the exact response to our request. In few words, the Institut Pasteur Direction choses not to take any clear stance, even after the report by United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory officially declaring that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
This situation continues to put our Institute and its staff in a position of complicity, which we cannot accept. We have been gathering more voices to form a larger group of people to reiterate our demands and conduct actions around the Campus.
As a response to the inaction and the dismissive reply of the Direction to our demands, we call all of you to join us at a protest on the 20th of November to voice our disagreement with the silence and complicity of the Institut Pasteur. It is necessary to put an end to the collaborations between the Institute and Israeli Institutions.
We strongly invite any person willing to join us to organize this protest to contact us by sending a message via the platform: www.openpetition.eu/fr/petition/kontakt/demandons-larret-des-collaborations-de-linstitut-pasteur-avec-israel-stop-complicite
We sincerely thank you for your support!
