Dear supporters of the petition for the liberalization of the mandate of celibacy,
I'm overjoyed to relay to you that we succeeded in delivering the petition to Pope Francis personally. He actually held it in his hands and has also certainly read it.
I have been in contact with many different ecclesial dignitaries in this matter and noticed that the problem has been recognized by many. It may even be discussed by the bishops in the near future.
I would like to ask you to pray for the pope and the bishops so they can find the courage to develop regional solutions to traditions (like the celibacy) which aren't central to our faith - just like the apostles did during the first council in Jerusalem. ( Book of Acts 15, 1-31, in the fifth book of the New Testament)
