Geautomatiseerde moderatie maakt fouten, dus menselijke beoordeling blijft noodzakelijk: Veel moderatiebeslissingen worden vandaag automatisch genomen. Dat verhoogt de kans dat gevoelige maar legitieme inhoud verkeerd wordt beoordeeld. Zeker bij thema’s zoals misbruik, femicide of slachtofferschap is menselijke contextbeoordeling essentieel.

Online geweld en intimidatie zijn reëel en mogen niet nog meer slachtoffers tot stilte dwingen: Online intimidatie, haat en digitale vernedering hebben een echte impact op veiligheid, mentale gezondheid en publieke participatie. Als content over geweld en misbruik systematisch minder zichtbaar wordt, worden ook hulp, herkenning en maatschappelijke bewustwording ondermijnd...

DSA, moderatie, transparantie, context, content

Platformen moeten transparant en contextgevoelig modereren: Gevoelige content hoeft niet automatisch schadelijk te zijn. Educatieve of maatschappelijke inhoud over geweld moet correct beoordeeld worden, mét context. Gebruikers hebben recht op duidelijke uitleg wanneer content wordt verwijderd of beperkt!

geweld, misbruik, bewustwording, slachtoffers, WHO

Bewustwording rond geweld en misbruik is maatschappelijk noodzakelijk, niet optioneel! Geweld en misbruik zijn een groot maatschappelijk probleem. Veel slachtoffers herkennen hun situatie pas via educatieve content, getuigenissen of informatie online. Wanneer zulke inhoud automatisch wordt beperkt, verdwijnt ook een stuk herkenning, preventie en toegang tot hulp.

Te veel nuance kan moderatie trager of moeilijker maken: Een mogelijk tegenargument is dat meer contextbeoordeling tijd en middelen vraagt, en dat platformen snel moeten kunnen optreden tegen schadelijke inhoud. Toch mag snelheid geen excuus zijn voor foutieve of ondoorzichtige beslissingen bij maatschappelijk relevante content.

Platformen moeten gebruikers blijven beschermen tegen schadelijke inhoud: Expliciete of schadelijke content moet gemodereerd blijven worden. Maar deze petitie vraagt geen afschaffing van moderatie - enkel meer nuance, context en menselijke beoordeling voor educatieve content over geweld, misbruik en traumaverwerking.
