Dear supporters of the TU Wien petition "Permanent contracts for successful researchers",

Many thanks for supporting our petition! We had a good meeting with VR Koch and Rector Schneider back in November 2023. Nevertheless, we are still waiting for the follow-up appointment, that we had agreed upon. The Rectorate told us at the time that they wanted to calculate and evaluate our proposal for a career model that would aim to provide many of us with permanent employment.

We therefore have the feeling that the importance and urgency of the 8-year fixed term limit of §109 UG, which already directly affects several of us, has not yet reached the Rectorate. However, end of April TU Wien has to deliver the proposal for the performance agreement for the next 3 years to the Ministry of Education. In our opinion, it would be important that additional resources for permanent positions are allocated in that agreement. It is even more important since the Ministry has already asked the universities for measures to increase permanent contracts!

To communicate our cause better, it takes all of us: Write an email to Rector Jens Schneider and Vice-rector Ute Koch, in which you voice your concerns and personal situation to the Rectorate in your own words (some of you have already written this on the petition website, which simply could be copied). We think that a number of personal situations would raise awareness in the Rectorate.

E-mail adresses: jens.schneider@tuwien.ac.at, ute.koch@tuwien.ac.at, rektorat@tuwien.ac.at

If you write an e-mail please put us in CC or BCC or briefly inform us otherwise, such that we know how many emails have been sent (stefan.ohrhallinger@tuwien.ac.at)

Many thanks!
Best, Christiane Lechner and Stefan Ohrhallinger for the Unterbau TU Wien initiative
