Anyone who enjoys cycling will notice several gaps along Styria's cycle path network. Even when following the popular R2 route along the Mur River, cyclists are frequently cut short and forced into traffic, which often seems less than welcoming to cyclists. The sometimes absurd route design is only surpassed by the sheer number of potholes and closures, the reasons for which seem more like harassment than necessary measures.
- Children, especially those riding bicycles, receive little consideration. Distances and routes should be adjusted accordingly.
- Cycle paths need better signage, including road markings, and service stations need clearer signage.
- The cycling community has changed. Many now enjoy cycling year-round, and even the winter months are often part of their usual outdoor activity.
- Charging stations should therefore take this into account and reopen earlier. Furthermore, it would be of interest if service products, such as replacement hoses, were available in stores.
Begründung
The "death trap" intersection: The area around the intersection (towards the golf course/Peggau) is extremely confusing for cyclists. Heavy goods vehicles meet commuters there, and cyclists are often the most vulnerable. Other corners should also be made safer.
Closing the gaps: While the Mur Cycle Path is often well-developed, the access routes from the towns are often patchwork. The "Badl Gallery" is dangerous due to the cars and does not meet the European standards that cycle paths now have.
Safety vs. Leisure: The golf course area is often dismissed as a purely "leisure path," but for many, it's their commute. A safe separation or marking of the road and cycle path is long overdue. Furthermore, reckless cyclists have recently been found on the routes, endangering cyclists by cutting them off.
Safety vs. Leisure: The golf course area is often dismissed as a purely "leisure path," but for many, it's their way to work. Our aim is to ensure the smooth operation of cycling, which has transformed into a popular sport, a tourist attraction, and a testing ground for prototypes and developments. The routes should take into account the fact that exercise is also demanded and promoted by the health sector. Furthermore, bicycles do not require any 'treatment' by third parties; they should be considered the private property of their owners.
I want better driveways because I don't want to suffer! 🚲
