Organversagen und Herz-Kreislauf-Probleme: Die inneren Organe schrumpfen bei extrem verkleinerten Rassen oft nicht im gleichen Verhältnis mit wie der restliche Körper. Dies führt zu Herzinsuffizienz und Kreislaufproblemen, da das kleine Herz das Blut nicht mehr effizient durch den gesamten Körper pumpen kann.Extreme Skelett- und Gelenkschäden: Zwergwuchs (Chondrodysplasie) führt oft zu verkümmerten Gliedmaßen, einer erhöhten Rate an Bandscheibenvorfällen, Fehlstellungen der Zähne.
