One of Clayton State's stated missions is to "(Create) an outstanding educational experience that stimulates intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation." I fail to see how cutting programs and limiting opportunities for students at Clayton accomplishes this in any capacity.

This is outrageous. Clayton State has long been a cornerstone of excellent mathematics education for both Clayton County residents and those across Georgia. The decision to cut these programs would undoubtedly impact the quality of education at Clayton State University and, consequently, Clayton County as a whole.

I'm a Math Major at Clayton State University whose degree is at stake, but more than that I'm a human being who is sick of neoliberal nonsense sucking the life and potential out of our communities. Not only is this an extremely dangerous idea, it also directly deteriorates the education of our students, the efficiency and careers of our teachers, and erodes the opportunities for everyone in the community.

I am a part-time student and Mathematics major at Clayton State. If my major is eliminated, this will force me to have to change my major since I will not be able to complete the program requirements within the same timeframe as a full time student of the same Junior classification. Additionally, this program is needed in an already underserved population..

My friends at Clayton, whom I've met via the Southeastern Theatre Conference, deserve their Theatre program. They are so talented and hardworking, it is extremely unfair to undermine their accomplishments by cutting their program. Throwing away the arts is NOT how you run a university. Disregarding the importance of art and those who make it is NOT how you run a better society. We ALL have to do better at valuing art EVERYWHERE and encouraging creation in all forms, ESPECIALLY for BIPOC. It starts here. Clayton State, do better.

This is a huge deal for students and their futures! The STEAM program makes up more than 40% of student population and taking it away from Clayton State University could have several negative consequences. Removing the STEM program could limit educational and career opportunities for students interested in these areas, reduce the university's ability to attract talented faculty and students, and hinder the region's ability to meet workforce demands in STEM-related industries. It's important to consider the broader impact on the university, its students, the employees, families, and the community as a whole before making such a decision.

STEM Majors are important towards society and it should be allowed at every college. What if some people don’t have the necessities to attend college elsewhere? what are all those students with a passion in stem going to do if it gets taken away ?

As a member of the STEAM community I would be affected by a sudden cutting off of the program I've spent all of my time on this campus working on completing. Not to mention what these departments provide in terms of revenue for the department makes me question why this is even a thing.

This is important to me because I am a future biochemist and I plan on getting my degree finished and am official degree from Clayton State University…. This is important because just as much as the school fund business STEM is just as necessary. To the air we breath is science, so stopping this degree path is a mockery to everyone living. Science matters and all of the STEM majors are important!

Not removing the theater major is important to me as creative is essential to people in general to keep going in life and be able to dream bigger and bring to society new ideas to build economy because they were able to think of scenarios to entertain people and make them smile. Essentially they create as well the most job.

This petition is important to me because I am a returning student whom transferred to CSU based off the courses and majors offered. I am now convinced that I will be transferring again if budgets for the STEM majors are cut. STEM majors are now at risk and we ALL were convinced that we had chosen the perfect university for our journey though life. And to find out budgets will be cut ONLY to form a football team in which the school has not had. I feel that if the university wants a football team, they should be able to afford to do so WITHOUT cutting budgets from any programs. This is a very unfair decision and I fear Clayton state is going to lose a lot of good students if this inconvenient decision is set in stone and STEM budgets are cut. This matter is starting to stress me and interfere with my attention during classes. Please do not make this decision, STEM majors are counting on CSU to make better decisions and not let us down.

I am a part-time adult learner at Clayton State University who sees potential in the talented young people of the south Atlanta metro area who would really benefit from the resources of Clayton State University. Clayton State is an affordable and accessible school that provides opportunities for many students who’s alternatives may be slim. Please save these majors for these bright young students.

It is important to have sciences and art to be accessible to the students of Clayton county community. This creates a shortage of opportunities open for those future students/ current students to be able to pursue their career. Given that, the termination of STEM majors will not only negatively impact students, it will create a low rate of students at CSU overall for the lack of careers to choose from when applying for university/ college.
