Prioritizing fair and competitive teacher compensation and maintaining our current class sizes is important to maintaining our excellent and always highly rated school system. I attended Worcester county public schools and am proud of the education and support that I have always received. We cannot compromise that. Not only is it the right thing to do, but maintaining a strong public school system supports the economy, supports a strong/capable work force, and invests in our future- locally and globally. Being able to provide mental health resources and enrichment programs for ALL students- including those who may otherwise not have had access, should be a priority- not a bargaining tool. Our children deserve this. I fear that we will ultimately still pay the price of these defunded programs through an inability to recruit talented workers to our area, increased crime rates, and increased suicide rates. Having to cut mental health resources, expand class sizes, and lose passionate educators is showing our students that they are not valuable enough to invest in. Please don’t send them that message.
We have benefit of bringing in lots of tax dollars from outside of the area with tourism. We should in turn have the best school system and teachers in the State.
As the main income earner of my household, my salary needs to stay competitive with the cost of living. I have done everything the county has asked of me and more.
I go to school here
I want WCPS fully funded in order to maintain small class sizes and attract top teachers, staff members and bus drivers.
Our children deserve the best education possible. Fund the budget. Support public schools
5 children in wcps
As an employee of wcps, we deserve to be compensated fairly. As a parent of wcps students, my children deserve equitable resources and small class sizes.
I have 2 children in the school and my husband is a teacher.
Teacher within the county looking to do what I can.
I am a Worcester County Public Schools employee, parent of three WCPS students, and graduate of WCPS
WCPS employee
2 children in WCPS
I am a parent of 4 children who are attending a WCPS and I feel very strongly that they need the best along with their teachers and staff. I am a product of WCPS education and I know what a wonderful school system it is…. Awesome kids, hardworking teachers and staff and great admin…. We need this fully funded budget for our kids!
Fully funding our schools strengthens the education and stability of the county. Further cuts will increase class size and limit arts and sports within our schools.
Kids deserve small class sizes. Teachers work so hard to guarantee success for all of their students and deserve to be paid as well as any other county in Md.
An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people. Give educators what they need to ensure a secure future for our community. WoCo's children deserve nothing but the best.
the state views our county as affluent due to an inflated assessment impacted by resort property taxes - the truth is we are underfunded have significant areas where children are at risk and our kids deserve better
I have 3 children currently in WCPS.
Our students need teachers who can afford to live here and supplies provided by our taxes
My child is in the 6th grade in Snow Hill. They need a bigger budget. They didn't even have a bus to Hebron for All Shore Chorus auditions, parents had to take them, when Wicomico Co. had a school bus.
Children and teachers are out future
I have 2 children in Worcester County Public schools. One of them has special needs. He wouldn’t have made the substantial progress he has made without the support of the special education provided. There’s no way he would be thriving if he was in larger classroom sizes. My daughter deserves the same consideration. Larger classroom sizes would be detrimental to our students and so unfair to an already overworked staff. Our staff and our students deserve a fully funded budget!
I am concerned about the future of out children.
5 children.
My husband is a teacher and 3 out of 4 of our kids attend a school in Worcester County, soon all 4 will be attending. My husband and I were born and raised in this county and attended the schools. We need our kids and all the kids to have the same attention given to them that was continuously given to us. My kids and my husband will be the ones suffering, which ultimately leads to our entire family hurting.
Fund our schools, education is#1 Fund 100 % of requested budget
Teacher, already gave over a1.5 free during 3 furlough hold years, struggling with other costs rising (gas, food, health care, etc.) currently have to work a 2nd & 3rd job, we need to be competitive to our surrounding counties or we are going to lose great teachers and our academic edge!
Our teachers, staff, and students deserve for all our schools to be fully funded!! Todo less is absolutely criminal!!
Funding at maintenance level is not enough. The schools need the full funding to provide the teachers and students what they need to be successful.
A fully funded budget is the best way to ensure my children have the support they need continue thriving in Worcester County Public Schools.
