Pétition adressée à : Mr. Clifton Grima, Minister for Education, Youth, Resources and Innovation

The yard in St Julian's Primary/St Clare College is damaged and dangerous.

  • Children are routinely slipping and injuring themselves on the rubberised surface which has now disintegrated to gravel.
  • The longest surrounding wall is slowing collapsing, due to subsidence. There is a sheer drop to a busy road on the opposite side.
  • There are no shaded parts, which makes playtime in summer heat unnecessarily uncomfortable, and outside breaktimes in even light rain showers are impossible.
  • Childrens' shoes and uniforms are being damaged and torn due to falls, placing unnecessary hardship on parents to replace.

Despite making repeated requests for assistance through all the proper channels, the school have still not been allocated the essential funding for these remedial works to take place.

Raison

Children are slipping and cutting themselves daily and the situation is deteriorating. We should not have to wait for even more serious injury for this issue to be resolved.
Please sign and share so that concerned parents, students, teachers, and other stakeholders can finally have a safe place for schoolchildren to play.

Actualités

  • Dear All,

I am happy to report to you that the required work on the school yard has largely been completed. The dangerous wall has been fixed, the unsafe yard surface has been removed, and the process of replacing the surface with new turf has commenced.

Thank you very much to the Foundation for Tomorrow's Schools (FTS) and the Education Department for their help in repairing our school yard and endeavouring to make the area safer for our children.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for taking the time to sign, write comments, and share awareness. The repair and remedial work commenced while the petition was still collecting signatures, so while it was not handed in to the Ministry, they were aware of our campaign. Your support is therefore very much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Saron
