Petition addressed to: The Government of Malta.

We call on the Government of Malta to proceed with the measures announced in the 2027 Budget concerning third-country nationals, including the revised eligibility criteria for publicly funded services and the applicable work and residence permit fees.
As Maltese citizens, we believe that our country must manage its public resources responsibly, ensure that its infrastructure and services remain sustainable, and prioritise the long-term well-being of Malta and its people.
We ask the Government to implement these measures fairly, transparently and consistently, while ensuring that public funds are used responsibly and that Malta's interests, identity and quality of life are protected for future generations.
We invite fellow citizens and residents who share these concerns to sign this petition and show their support for a sustainable future for Malta

Reason

As a Maltese citizen, I believe that Malta must always put the interests, well-being and future of its own people first. Malta is our home, our identity and our heritage, and we have a responsibility to protect its resources, infrastructure and quality of life for future generations.
I support the Government’s 2027 Budget measures concerning third-country nationals because I believe public funds and publicly funded services must be managed responsibly and sustainably. Maltese citizens and long-term residents deserve a system that is fair, transparent and capable of meeting the needs of our country.
This petition is important because it gives ordinary citizens a voice and an opportunity to show their support for policies that protect Malta’s long-term interests. I believe we can welcome people who contribute positively to our country while ensuring that Malta’s resources, services and national interests remain a priority.
Malta is our home, and it is our responsibility to stand up for its future.

Thank you so much for your support, Individual Citizens of Malta, Swatar

Why people sign

Because Malta is for the Maltese nationals first

Aħna ilqajnikom ġewwa pajjiżna u kuntenti b' ħidmietkom. Qedin tgawdu minn ħafna benefiċċji w sussidji li missirijietna, aħna u uliedna ħdimna għalihom .. w intom wasaltu hawn u bdejtu tgawduhom immedjatament.. mingħajr ma kontu għadkom lanqas ħriġtu ċenteżmu għall-pajjiż ..
Mela ejja Uru ftit rispett u ħallsu għal ftit mill-ħafna benefiċċji li qed tgawdu minnhom..

English version

We welcomed you to our country and we are happy with your work. You are enjoying many benefits and subsidies that our forefathers, we, and our children worked for... and you arrived here and started enjoying them immediately... without even having contributed a single cent to the country yet...
So come on, show a little respect and pay for some of the many benefits that you are enjoying..."

Great budget

This is important for immigrant regulation. Maltese nationals are stuggling more than ever (in every way possible) due to the population increase and higher cost of living. Mental health is getting worse, and suicide rates are also increasing. This needs to stop. The government needs to prioritise their own people's well-being, first and foremost.
