First it was Dec 20-Feb 21. Then Mar-Jun 21. Now it's Jul-Aug 21. We all know from the lockdown school and work changes, how vital it is to finally have working broadband in our area. And the engineers have been at work - they were deemed essential workers, so not delayed by COVID-19 restrictions.
We have seen plenty of marketing opportunities for the Minister for Communications Eamonn Ryan, and David McCourt of National Broadband Ireland, such as the "first connection" to the O'Connor family in Upper Fountainstown made in January 2021 (see https://nbi.ie/news/latest/2021/01/22/cork-home-is-the-first-connected-under-e3bn-rural-national-broadband-plan/ ).
Unfortunately the reality on the ground is of disagreement between the surveying company 4-Site, the contractors KCNet, and the supervisors from NBI, with constant unspecified delays to the rollout, which are then poorly communicated to the companies that will eventually supply the broadband to residents. 
As local residents we are now petitioning our representatives to use the email advertised by Minister for Communications, reps@nbi.ie and get us some answers about when, if ever, we are going to get these broadband connections. All we have is overloaded, slow and poor mobile broadband at present and no sign of any improvement.
