Current situation - contact points
In many Swiss cities there are contact points for addicts with low-threshold services. There they can consume small amounts of drugs they have brought with them or bought locally under supervision. These contact points are official projects of the Swiss authorities and incur high costs in the millions every year. Unfortunately, outside of these facilities, all other aspects related to drugs are illegal - be it possession, purchase, sale, manufacture or import. Anyone who is stopped by the police outside of the contact points risks fines and confiscation of the substances. This hits people on low incomes particularly hard, as they often have difficulty paying the fines or even end up in prison.

Problems with the current solution
The current situation is unsatisfactory and a half-finished solution. Although consumption is legal in the drop-in centers and so-called micro-trading (small amounts for personal use) is tolerated, the question arises: How are consumers supposed to get hold of the substances legally if import, production, trade and everything else outside the drop-in centers is prohibited? This grey area must be addressed urgently. We can no longer allow consumers to rely on gambling, but must solve the problems holistically.

Demand for an appropriate solution
With this petition, we demand that the entire problem - from procurement to consumption - be considered and solved comprehensively. The legalization of small amounts of cocaine for personal use should not be viewed in isolation. Rather, we must lay the foundations to tackle these challenges from the ground up.
