Some reasons I oppose:
• Noise. Average decibel level of a helicopter taking off and landing is upwards of 90 decibels providing significant disturbance; vacationers, residents, even waterfowl might all ‘fly the coop’ cause who wants to listen to that every ten minutes?
• Safety. Compared to airplanes, helicopters are loosely regulated, a scary thought with such close proximity to the Harbor Bridge, well-touristed North Beach and five multi-family high-story buildings.
• Environmental. No environmental impact study has been performed. The noise disturbance alone could be disastrous to the Nueces Bay Rookery (critical bird nesting area) and the Rincon Channel Wetlands and Timon Wetlands (critical bird feeding areas). …not to mention the emissions into our atmosphere when we were just listed as the 8th unhealthiest city in the U.S. to live in.
• Goes Against 2011 City-Approved North Beach Development Goals. That City-Council-Approved plan targets “the north half of North Beach as a destination for ‘low impact’ …”; helicopter flights are clearly not low impact.
• Tax-Dollar Support/Incentives Not Appropriate. The use of TIRZ incentive funding being discussed for such a venture is unjustifiable when there are many more pressing needs within North Beach that warrant investment of such public dollars; the list is endless, just look around.

This is not a safe location for the reasons stated in the other comments; it is too close to the housing development; and this will not attract additional residents to this location.
Do not want the constant noise from helicopters in my front yard
Safety
This is a naturally quiet area; we live here for the tranquility and beauty of being near the beach. For all the reasons listed in this petition, this Touristic idea is not for North Beach where there are residential homes, and new construction of a future better Highway 181, linking to the new bridge. It could work best on Padre Island, as they do in South Padre Island, public money should be invested to naturally stimulate and beautify an area, not fill it with noise, air and contamination, for a one time experience.
Too noisy!
too much noise
I live here and I do not want helicopters coming in and out all day every day.
Voicing my opinion. I feel that using taxpayer's monies for a private company is wrong. Second.,the noise would be very disruptive to homeowners and would lose income because of the noise. Third, is the safety issue, crashes, and mechanical issue that may arise.
I own property within a few blocks of the proposed take-off and landing site. Any operation of this nature should not be in close proximity to any type of residential area due to significant safety and noise concerns. I also believe this would have a negative impact on the nearby wetlands and bird population on North Beach. I definitely would not build on the property if this proposal, as currently planned, is approved.
Danger of crash in our condensed area.
I live near where the helicopter rides will be stationed. Constant noise. People will come, but they will not stay.
In these times of wars, i would not like my neighborhood to sound like a war zone.
I do not want this helicopter tours here on North Beach it is going to disrupt wildlife it is going to be loud is going to make our insurance go up it's a big liability and the threat to our safety and wildlife safety
It will be very disruptive to my community as well as dangerous to our homes and residents.
Community safety and environmental safety. Noise pollution and traffic hazhard.
Unwise use of TIRZ funds; public safety hazard
I think the helicopter tours should be located as per study shown in the commercial zone near tourist attractions only. Generally, I only oppose the location 2-3 blocks from residential district.
I live 2,000 feet from where this company wants to land and take off and believe the noise and disruption will negatively impact my quality of life.
Our neighborhood group has worked hard to make this a great place to live and we don't want to see our city allow this "fly-by-day" helicopter company to come in and destroy all that we've worked for.
Pollution and noise. Also could damage properties around , so safety is a concern.
