I love Boom Festival. I return because it is more than a party — it’s a community, a vision, a celebration of freedom. But in 2025, I was struck by how basic needs for quick relief and hydration were overlooked.

• Urinals (pissoirs): Compost toilets are sufficient across the festival, but urinals are missing in key areas. At Dance Temple, there was at least one pissoir. But at other major stages like Alchemy Circle and The Gardens, there were none at all. This forces thousands of people to either queue endlessly for toilets or break the eco rules by peeing on the ground. If Boom wants us to respect the land, then urinals must be provided at all big stages.
• Innovation for women: Urinals are almost always designed for men, leaving women with longer waits. But freedom also means equality. Festivals like Roskilde in Denmark have already experimented with female-friendly urinals. Boom could be a leader here, pioneering inclusive urinal solutions so that everyone has equal access to quick relief.
• Water access: In 40°C heat, I often had to queue a long time just to drink water. This is not only frustrating, it is dangerous. With psychedelics and MDMA commonly used at Boom, dehydration is one of the biggest medical risks. The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) states clearly that easy access to water is a critical harm-reduction measure at festivals (EMCDDA source). The World Health Organization also highlights that proper water and sanitation are essential at mass gatherings to avoid health emergencies (WHO report).

👉 That is why this petition is important: because Boom’s vision of freedom and sustainability cannot exist without the basics.

• Enough urinals (including inclusive ones for women) at all main stages.
• Enough water points with fast flow and no queues.

This is not just a matter of comfort — it is about health, ecology, equality, and the true spirit of Boom.
