Petition is addressed to: Etsy inc.

We are a passionate community of Algerian marketers, artisans, and handmade creators with vast experience in crafting unique, high-quality products that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Algeria. From intricate traditional crafts to modern handmade designs, our work embodies creativity, skill, and authenticity. However, despite our talent and dedication, we remain unable to fully participate in the global marketplace due to one significant barrier: Algeria is not currently supported by Etsy’s payment and registration systems.
Etsy has long been a beacon of opportunity for creative entrepreneurs worldwide, offering a platform where handmade goods, vintage treasures, and craft supplies can find appreciative buyers across the globe. Yet, as proud Algerian creators, we are excluded from this vibrant community simply because our country is not yet included in Etsy’s list of supported regions for payments and seller registration.
We kindly urge Etsy to recognize the immense potential of Algerian sellers and take the necessary steps to unlock Algeria as a supported country on your platform. By doing so, you will not only empower countless talented individuals to share their artistry with the world but also enrich Etsy’s diverse marketplace with the unique beauty and craftsmanship that Algeria has to offer.
Adding Algeria to Etsy’s payment and registration options would open doors for hundreds—if not thousands—of small businesses, enabling us to contribute to the global creative economy while preserving and promoting our cultural traditions. This change would allow us to connect with Etsy’s vast international customer base, grow our businesses, and inspire future generations of Algerian artisans and marketers.
Together, let’s make creativity borderless. We ask Etsy to embrace inclusivity and give Algerian creators the chance to showcase their talents on one of the world’s most beloved platforms.
Please support our petition and help us bring Algeria’s creativity to Etsy!

Reason

This petition is not just a request—it’s a call for inclusivity, opportunity, and empowerment. It represents the dreams and aspirations of countless talented Algerian marketers, artisans, and handmade creators who are eager to share their unique skills and products with the world. By adding Algeria to Etsy’s list of supported countries for payment and registration, you will be opening doors to a vibrant community of creative entrepreneurs who have so much to offer but currently lack the platform to do so.
1. Showcasing Algerian Talent on a Global Stage
Algeria is a country rich in culture, history, and creativity. Our artisans and designers create one-of-a-kind handmade goods that reflect the beauty and diversity of our traditions—whether it’s intricate embroidery, hand-painted ceramics, traditional jewelry, or modern crafts inspired by our heritage. These creations are more than just products; they tell stories, preserve cultural legacies, and celebrate the ingenuity of Algerian craftsmanship.
By allowing Algerian sellers to join Etsy, you will give them the opportunity to showcase their talent to millions of buyers worldwide. This exposure is vital for artists and small business owners who want to share their work with an international audience and gain recognition for their unique contributions to the global creative community.
2. Growing Small Businesses and Supporting Economic Development
For many Algerians, selling handmade goods and creative services is not just a passion—it’s a livelihood. Allowing Algerian sellers to register and process payments on Etsy would provide them with access to a thriving marketplace where they can grow their businesses sustainably. This inclusion would help:

  • Boost Local Economies: Many Algerian artisans operate as micro-entrepreneurs or home-based businesses. Access to Etsy would enable them to expand their reach, increase sales, and contribute to the economic development of their communities.
  • Encourage Entrepreneurship: Young Algerians, especially women and rural creators, often face limited opportunities to monetize their talents due to systemic barriers. Etsy could become a transformative tool for these individuals, empowering them to build independent businesses and achieve financial independence.
  • Promote Innovation: With access to Etsy’s resources and global customer base, Algerian sellers can innovate, experiment with new designs, and refine their craft while staying competitive in the international market.

3. Bridging Cultural Gaps Through Art and Commerce
Etsy is known for celebrating diversity and fostering connections between creators and buyers from all over the world. Adding Algeria to the platform would further this mission by introducing Etsy users to the unparalleled artistry and craftsmanship of Algerian creators. Buyers seeking authentic, culturally significant items would have the chance to discover and support Algerian talent, creating meaningful cross-cultural exchanges through commerce.
4. Fulfilling Etsy’s Mission of Inclusivity
Etsy’s vision is to “keep commerce human” by supporting small businesses and independent creators everywhere. Unfortunately, without including Algeria, this vision remains incomplete for many talented individuals who are ready to contribute to Etsy’s ecosystem. By unlocking Algeria, Etsy would demonstrate its commitment to inclusivity and ensure that no creator is left behind simply because of where they live.
5. A Catalyst for Change
Adding Algeria to Etsy’s platform is not just about enabling transactions—it’s about creating opportunities, fostering growth, and inspiring hope. For every Algerian seller who joins Etsy, there’s a ripple effect: families are supported, traditions are preserved, and dreams are realized. It’s time to break down the barriers that prevent Algerian creators from participating in the global economy and allow them to shine alongside other talented artisans from around the world.
A Simple Step Toward a Big Impact
The decision to include Algeria on Etsy may seem like a small step for a global platform, but for Algerian creators, it would be life-changing. It would validate their hard work, unlock their potential, and give them the tools they need to succeed. Together, we can make this vision a reality.
Support our petition today, and help us bring Algerian creativity, talent, and entrepreneurship to Etsy—a platform where they truly belong.

Why people sign

As an Algerian artisan, I am deeply passionate about sharing our rich cultural heritage through handmade crafts and unique designs. However, Etsy's current restrictions prevent me and many talented Algerian creators from accessing a global marketplace that values authenticity and craftsmanship. This limitation not only hinders our economic opportunities but also deprives the world of the diverse artistry Algeria has to offer. By supporting this petition, I hope Etsy recognizes the potential and creativity within our community and takes steps to include Algerian sellers on its platform.

As a member of a growing community of talented Algerian creators, I respectfully urge Etsy to reconsider the current country restrictions that prevent sellers from Algeria from accessing the platform. There are tens of thousands of skilled artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs in Algeria who are eager to participate legally and transparently, with all necessary documentation, banking infrastructure, and high-quality products ready for global markets. Etsy represents a vital opportunity for sustainable income and international exposure for our local talent. By opening access to Algeria, Etsy would not only empower a thriving creative economy but also expand its global diversity and impact in a meaningful way.

It's important for me because I see that it's not fair for us to be prohibited from selling our digital or physical things on that website although scammers can be found everywhere not only in Algeria
There are some really ambitious ppl here whom they love what they do and create and whom are hoping to sell and share their art with ppl from all over the world in order to introduce our local art to all the countries ( it can be very similar to Moroccans since we r neighbours)
If it's for the payment we can use wise or Payoneer or even PayPal as a method of payment that's not a problem to us
I do really hope you can fix this problem for us and we will be grateful cause we feel over pressed and stuck here for things we r not responsible off
It feels like you didn't even give us a chance and we r being misjudged here
