The petitioner seeks the adoption of an EU directive on domestic abuse and violence, aimed at protecting women and children who fall victim to emotional, physical or sexual abuse, in particular while abroad in another Member State. The petitioner highlights the alarming number of victims who are killed or abused but who rarely report the crimes committed against them, in the absence of appropriate and necessary statutory safeguards.
