Condemn the results of the 2021 Russian parliamentary elections as illegitimate

Dear Mr. President of the Federal Council, Mr. President of the National Council, Mr. Head of the Foreign Affairs Department, dear Members of the Foreign Policy Commission,

We, the undersigned residents and citizens of the Swiss Confederation, call on you not to acknowledge as legitimate, i.e. representative of the will of the Russian people, the results of the recently conducted elections to the lower house of the Russian Parliament (the State Duma).

We further call on you to review Switzerland’s approach to bilateral and multilateral relations with the persons claiming to form the government of Russia and to represent the Russian people. We call on you to intensify your work against Kremlin’s corruption, including its export to Switzerland, against money laundering and international aggression. A specific step in this direction would be to introduce targeted restraints on access to Swiss capital, real estate and other markets to members of the corrupt oligarchy responsible for the multiple human rights violations in Russia, including the recent electoral fraud.
