Prevent Colorado from Implementing OS-Level Age Verification

As of time of writing, there is a bill that is under consideration in the Colorado General Assembly called Age Attestation on Computing Devices (SB26-051). It is an age verification bill that requires operating system developers to put age checks in place upon making a new account, in order to put said account into an age bracket that restricts the number of apps they can use based on their age bracket. This could lead to security and privacy issues, as well as directly harming open-source developers. A link to the bill can be found here: https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/SB26-051 (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/SB26-051)

Demand Action on Water Outages in Polokwane

Dear Ms Nemugumoni,
I'm writing as a resident of Polokwane, Ward 22, on behalf of myself and numerous affected residents in Penina Park, Ivy Park, Flora Park, Ivydale, and the Lower CBD, to formally demand immediate and meaningful action to address the repeated water outages and complete breakdown in communication from the municipality.
Factual Background
* Residents in Penina Park, Ivy Park, Flora Park, Ivydale, and the Lower CBD have suffered frequent and prolonged water outages, with the most recent lasting over 48 hours during the past weekends (20–22 February 2026).
* These disruptions prevent basic daily activities (cooking, hygiene, sanitation) and pose serious health risks, particularly to children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups such as residents at the APD House (a facility for persons with disabilities in our area), who are left without access to essential services during these outages.
* In most instances, the municipality has responded to complaints with standard assurances that “a water tanker will be dispatched” — yet no tanker has arrived, and no communication has been provided regarding dispatch times, collection points, or reasons for non-delivery.
* Reports of outages are routinely acknowledged with a single word (“noted”) or similar generic response, after which no further action or feedback is given. This pattern of empty promises and silence has become the norm.
* When water is eventually restored, a large bubble of air often surges through the water meters, causing the meters to register usage before any water flows. Residents are thus billed for "air" rather than actual water consumption, adding an unfair financial burden.
* Mankweng is reportedly consuming approximately 60% of the municipality's water supply (excluding illegal connections), with past write-offs of ~R600 million in debts and arrears still exceeding R300 million. This disproportionate usage contributes to shortages across Polokwane, while other areas bear the consequences.
* The 2025/26 IDP openly admits city-wide water deficits (10–37 Ml/day), 28% losses (R120 million annually), and sanitation backlogs (48.1% of households). Yet residents continue to receive full monthly bills, including charges for water that is not supplied.

This situation is unsustainable and erodes public trust. Residents feel treated as cash cows — forced to pay rates and service charges for services that are not delivered, with no effective legal avenue to withhold payment (as confirmed by Constitutional Court rulings such as Rademan v Moqhaka Municipality). The municipality’s failure to communicate or deliver promised interim relief (tankers) only deepens this sense of injustice and abandonment.
Legal Basis
* Section 27(1)(b) of the Constitution: Right to sufficient water.
* Section 152(1) of the Constitution and Section 73 of the Municipal Systems Act: Duty to provide sustainable services and communicate effectively.
* Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA): Administrative inaction must be lawful, reasonable, and procedurally fair.
* Water Services Act: Obligation to provide basic water supply and inform consumers of disruptions.

The repeated non-delivery of promised tankers, combined with the lack of any meaningful communication, constitutes a clear breach of these obligations.

Increase Cohousing Affordability in Canada

To Our Representatives in levels of Municipal, Provincial and Federal Government,
We are writing today to request your support to build and fund community-led cohousing projects in Canada.
At Ottawa Cohousing, we see the great potential for private investment from engaged residents to contribute towards the building of innovative, eco-friendly housing communities called cohousing.
The cohousing model can play an important part in the mix of housing solutions that will support a strong and resilient housing system in our country, mobilizing long term investments towards the building of right-sized housing stock. It is a housing model that serves both young and aging populations as it offers great social benefits and community engagement.
This is what would help us build:

* HST & development fees waived for cohousing communities

* Seed funding for cohousing and community-led developments of 6 to 75 units

* Accelerated approvals and permitting processes for cohousing developments

Protect Public Education: Bring Back Bowmore’s Educators and Order an Independent Review

We, the undersigned, are deeply alarmed by the firing of two teachers, and the earlier suspensions without pay of eight additional teachers at Bowmore Road Junior and Senior Public School. These actions have shaken our confidence in the fairness, transparency, and integrity of decision‑making by the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
As parents, students, caregivers, community members, and members of the public, we demand answers and accountability. The community deserves to know how and why these extreme measures were taken—and that they were taken fairly.
Our Immediate Demands
We call on the Ministry‑appointed TDSB Supervisor and the Minister of Education to take the following actions without delay:
1. Reinstate and fully restore the affected educators
* Immediately reinstate the two teachers who were fired to their positions at Bowmore, with no loss of seniority, pending the outcome of a fair and independent review.
* Confirm in writing that all eight teachers who were previously suspended without pay are now fully restored to their original roles, with back pay and full recognition of service, and that no further conditions or hidden penalties remain attached to those suspensions.
* Where the independent review finds no just cause for any discipline, remove all related discipline from personnel files and provide full restitution.

2. Independent, third‑party review
* Appoint an independent, arms‑length investigator who is not employed by the TDSB or the Ministry and who has had no involvement in these decisions.
* Direct this review to examine:
* the processes that led to the firing of the two teachers and the earlier suspensions without pay of eight teachers;
* whether TDSB policies, collective agreements, human‑rights obligations, and Ministry directives were followed; and
* whether there were procedural or systemic unfairnesses.
* Commit to releasing a public summary of the investigator’s findings and recommendations within a clear timeline, with appropriate privacy protections, and to implementing those recommendations in full.

3. Restoring trust under provincial supervision
* Acknowledge that the appointment of a provincial supervisor has removed normal democratic oversight by elected trustees, and set out how community and stakeholder voices—including unions and professional associations—will be meaningfully heard while supervision is in place.
* Hold at least one public meeting (virtual or in‑person) where the Supervisor and Ministry representatives respond directly to questions and concerns from parents, students, staff, unions, and community organizations about these cases and the broader disciplinary process.
* Publish clear, accessible information about investigative and disciplinary procedures for staff—including timelines, rights to representation, and avenues of appeal—so the public understands how such decisions are made.

We believe that student safety, educator rights, and public trust in education are all best protected through processes that are fair, transparent, and accountable. We therefore urge the TDSB Supervisor and the Minister of Education to immediately reinstate the fired teachers, clear the records of wrongfully suspended educators, authorize a full independent review, and take public responsibility for repairing the damage done to this school community.

The Future of Anthropology Is Under Threat in Georgia. Help us to preserve it

Science is in danger in Georgia. On 16 October 2025, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced a plan to reform universities. This plan envisages the implementation of a ‘one city, one faculty’ policy, which would result in each state university maintaining only one faculty per city through a process of 'reorganization.' On 12 February 2026, these plans were formalized, effectively putting an end to interdisciplinarity and university autonomy—two principles essential to the functioning of science.
Certain institutions are being specifically targeted. For example, Ilia State University is set to lose more than 90% of its disciplines and programs, including the PhD Programme for Socio-Cultural Anthropology. These discontinued disciplines and programs are to be transferred to other state universities already co-opted by the government, primarily Tbilisi State University. In addition, academic disciplines are to be reorganized hierarchically, with only one full professor at the top, followed by associate and assistant professors. This top-down organization ensures strict control over the academic content to be taught.
Ilia State University’s anthropology program is recognized as the country’s foremost hub for anthropological research and teaching, building vital international partnerships and preparing scholars who are fully integrated into global academic networks. It’s the first of its kind, bringing local ethnographic tradition and international scholarship together with multiple international partners, a board of advisors, and the first in the field to establish stipends and scholarships for students. Abolishing this program is part of this regime's larger goal of isolating academia and civil society internationally.
Anthropology is in danger in Georgia. If the ‘one city, one faculty’ policy were to be applied, it is highly likely that certain research topics and approaches that run counter to the prevailing doctrine of the ruling party will no longer be taught, e.g., referring to gender or social activism. Anthropology would be streamlined toward state-nationalist objectives and agendas, in line with developments in Russia and Belarus. This would disconnect our discipline from its own path of development and growth, distancing it from wider disciplinary debates and ethical standards, and would therefore hinder its integration with international anthropological associations such as the EASA and the AAA. The preservation and development of the field of socio-cultural anthropology is of paramount importance not only for academia but also for society as a whole, both in Georgia and worldwide.
Therefore, the decision made by the Ministry of Education and the government must be reconsidered to ensure the continued functioning and development of socio-cultural anthropology at Ilia State University. We oppose the education reforms and reject any cooperation with, or legitimization of, institutions that place socio-cultural anthropology under state control.
The developments we are witnessing in Georgia are not limited to this state; they are harbingers of growing attacks on undesirable disciplines within increasingly authoritarian political regimes. Please show your solidarity by signing this public statement. Our struggle is also your struggle.

Petition to Protect Jefferson County’s Environment, Agriculture, Heritage, and Property Rights

We, the undersigned residents, property owners, farmers, business owners, and supporters of Jefferson County, respectfully urge the Jefferson County Commission to formally oppose new high-voltage transmission line projects proposed within or crossing Jefferson County.
Jefferson County is defined by its scenic landscapes, productive farmland, historic communities, and strong property rights traditions. Large-scale transmission line infrastructure threatens:

* Electrical Bill — Electricity bills are to increase for every electricity rate payer to help pay for the construction of the new transmission line projects.
* Economic and health impacts — residential properties in proximity to new transmission lines may experience decrease property value and higher rates of Electromagnetic radiation exposure.
* Private property rights — through the potential use of eminent domain for private or out-of-state energy transmission interests.
* Agricultural viability — by fragmenting farmland, restricting farm operations, and reducing land value.
* Viewshed — Structures will be to 200 feet tall, new transmission towers in Jefferson County will be visible for miles.
* Environmental resources — including forests, streams, wildlife habitat, and scenic viewsheds.
* Parks and Recreational resources — Decrease of recreational park acreage, loss of native milkweed patches that feed Monarch butterflies and other pollinators.

* Historic heritage — by impacting protected historic districts, Civil War landscapes, and rural character.

While reliable energy infrastructure is important, transmission projects that primarily serve regional or corporate interests should not impose disproportionate burdens on Jefferson County residents.
We respectfully request that the Jefferson County Commission:

1. Adopt a formal resolution opposing industrial-scale transmission line projects that negatively impact Jefferson County.
2. Advocate before the West Virginia Public Service Commission and relevant federal agencies to protect county interests.
3. Require comprehensive environmental, agricultural, economic, and historic impact studies before supporting any transmission proposal.
4. Support policies that prioritize local input, transparency, and protection of private property rights.

Jefferson County’s long-term prosperity depends on protecting what makes our county unique — its land, heritage, and people.
We stand together to defend our community.

Save Dinokeng Tourism By Fixing Provincial Gravel Roads

The Dinokeng Game Reserve (DGR) and the Cullinan area, as well as the many products surrounding the reserve, depend on the road infrastructure that feeds tourism via the De Wagensdrift (D1333), the Boekenhoutskloof (R734)/Hammanskraal R628 roads, and the Rust de Winter (D48) roads.
The above arteries, which feed both local and international tourism to the area, are currently nonfunctional and, in fact, untraversable. Many tourists, landowners, and members of the nearby community have sustained significant vehicle damage due to the above roads being in extremely dangerous condition.
These poor roads are now threatening the job security and financial viability of more than 100 businesses and about 2,000 employees.

We therefore call upon the German Bundestag to leave the existing prohibitions on egg donation and surrogacy within the Embryo Protection Act untouched.
We, the undersigned, call upon the South African Council for Educators (SACE) to waive or suspend membership fees for qualified but unemployed educators. It is unjust to require professionals who currently have no income to pay mandatory annual fees in order to remain registered. This financial burden disadvantages unemployed educators, limits their professional standing, and creates barriers to accessing employment opportunities when posts become available.
We therefore demand:

* Immediate suspension of SACE fees for unemployed educators
* A fair policy recognizing employment status
* A transparent system for declaring unemployment without penalties

For many immigration-related applications — such as declarations of commitment (Verpflichtungserklärungen) for stays exceeding 90 days — the Foreigners’ Office at the place of residence of the inviting person is responsible (§§ 68, 71 of the German Residence Act "AufenthG").
Currently, appointments are released online only in very limited numbers and are quickly booked out. There is no waiting list with automatic notification. This leads to long delays, even when all required documents are complete. While declarations of commitment for stays of up to 90 days can be processed at citizens’ offices (Bürgerbüros), longer-term cases cannot.
We request:
1. More appointments released in a predictable manner, with clearly communicated release times and transparent information about expected waiting periods.
2. Improved accessibility, for example through a ticketing or callback system for inquiries.
3. Appointment-free time slots for urgent cases with fixed start dates (e.g., university enrollment or employment contracts).

Reconsider Eliminating Social Worker Position at Jim Thorpe Elementary School

Jim Thorpe Elementary School has decided to eliminate their social worker position meaning they are trying to eliminate Ms. Engram who is the one person in the school who is there to make sure your child has a coat, food, and good mental health. Ms. Engram provides a light at the end of the tunnel for these children. A social worker is not a luxury; they are a bridge to academic success. Jim Thorpe Elementary School can NOT eliminate this position it will be detrimental for children who depend on her. Parents who face evictions, hardships, job losses, vehicle losses, and even lost loved ones have depended on Ms. Engram to be their anchor. It's our time to show our love and appreciation for Ms. Engram and be an anchor for her. It's hard to understand the role of a social worker until you need a social worker. I pray that you never have to understand what it's like to depend on one, but if you know, use your voice and stick up for her..

PETITION FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CAUSE FOR THE CANONISATION OF POPE BENEDICT XVI

Your Excellency Cardinal Marcello Semeraro
Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints
Palazzo delle Congregazioni
00120 Vatican City

3nd February 2026

Subject: Petition for the introduction of the cause for canonisation of His Holiness Benedict XVI – exercise of the right of petition of the faithful

Your Eminence,

With filial devotion and profound respect, we apply to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints as a group of young Catholic faithful united by our love for the teaching, witness of life, and catechesis of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.
This petition is also presented in the exercise of the rights recognised to the faithful by the Code of Canon Law, in particular by can. 212 §§ 2–3, which affirms the right and sometimes the duty of the faithful to make known to their sacred Pastors their needs and spiritual desires, as well as their thoughts on matters concerning the good of the Church, and by can. 215, which recognises the right of the faithful to associate for purposes of charity and piety and to promote the Christian vocation in the world.
Our journey of faith has been decisively enlighted by the teaching of Benedict XVI: the centrality of Christ, the harmony between faith and reason, the depth of the liturgy, the love for the truth, the doctrinal clarity combined with pastoral meekness, and the constant pointing to Christian joy as the fruit of a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus. His works, audiences, homilies, and theological writings continue to nourish our spiritual and intellectual formation.
We recognise in his priestly, episcopal and Petrine life an outstanding example of fidelity to the Church, humbleness, service and dedication to the truth of the Gospel. His witness of prayer, his gentleness of heart, his purity of intention and his love for the Church appear to us as shining examples of Christian virtues lived in an exemplary manner. His renunciation of the active exercise of the Petrine ministry also appears to us as a gesture of great interior freedom and responsibility before God.
Furthermore, we note that his reputation for holiness is alive and widespread among many of the faithful, especially among young people who find in his teachings a sure guide and a source of authentic Christian joy. Many of us have experienced a renewed enthusiasm for the sacramental life, prayer and the study of the faith thanks to his teaching.
For these reasons, in a spirit of ecclesial communion, in accordance with current rules and the prudent discernment of the relevant authorities, we respectfully ask that consideration be given to initiating the cause for canonisation of His Holiness Benedict XVI, so that the Church may officially examine his life, virtues and witness for the benefit of the whole People of God.
We entrust this petition to the wise judgement of the Church and assure you of our prayers for the Holy Father, for You and for the work of the Dicastery.
With devout esteem and filial respect,

Rescind the Alice Springs Town Council's support for Pine Gap

The Alice Springs Town Council currently has a policy in place that supports the continued presence of the Pine Gap military intelligence base (https://www.alicesprings.nt.gov.au/documents/429/joint-defence-facility-pine-gap#:~:text=111-,POLICY%20PURPOSE,Director%2C%20Corporate%20and%20Community%20Services) on Arrernte country 20 kilometres southwest of Mparntwe/ Alice Springs.
This is a problem.
Pine Gap makes all Mparntwe residents less safe and deepens an already systemically unequal local economy. Council support for the spy base makes Mparntwe residents complicit in the violence that the base perpetrates overseas.
With the United States government becoming increasingly aggressive, it is well past time for the base to be disendorsed by all levels of government. Rescinding this policy would signal our community’s rejection of militarism and be a powerful expression of our collective will to work towards, and lobby for, the base’s eventual closure and the return of the land to Arrernte traditional owners.
Join me in urging the Alice Springs Town Council to revoke its policy in support of Pine Gap.
Sign this petition to voice your support for a safer, more peaceful, more economically diverse Mparntwe/ Alice Springs.

Roads, Infrastructure

This petition calls on the Mayor and administration of West Windsor Township to urgently address deteriorating road conditions and infrastructure within the township, with specific focus on New Village Road and North Post Road.
These are major arterial roads used daily by residents, school traffic, emergency services, and commuters. Both roads currently suffer from extensive potholes, uneven pavement, and poor surface conditions that have persisted over time and continue to worsen. In addition, several commercial and town libraries within the township show signs of declining maintenance and aging infrastructure.
The petition requests that the township prioritize repairs to these key roads, publish a transparent maintenance and resurfacing plan, and take concrete steps to improve overall infrastructure standards across West Windsor.

Save the Chalets!

PETITION REQUESTING MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & PAUSE OF RECENT HOUSE RULES ENFORCEMENT
We, the undersigned owners at Chalet on the Lake, respectfully ask the Board to immediately pause enforcement of the recently adopted House Rule changes.
Many of these new rules represent major changes from the rules in place when many of us purchased our chalets. Beyond rental restrictions, the new rules expand the powers of the Board and concentrate authority in ways that concern a growing number of members. This large group of owners have now raised concerns about how quickly these changes were made and the lack of owner discussion or input before they were adopted.
At this point, both the Board and a group of owners have hired attorneys, and there are different opinions about whether these newest changes were made the right way. If the Board moves forward with enforcement while these issues are still being debated it could lead to litigation and unnecessary costs that would ultimately be paid by the co-op and its members. This could significantly impact the Cooperative’s financial position and for governance changes that many owners did not request and do not support.
This petition is not about arguing over individual rules. It is about asking for a clear, fair process protected by our ByLaws and Proprietary Lease before major changes take effect. It is about ensuring that major changes affecting owner rights, financial obligations, and enforcement authority are addressed transparently, collaboratively, and with appropriate member involvement, rather than through unilateral action that exposes the Cooperative to unnecessary risk.
We respectfully ask the Board to:
1. Immediately pause enforcement of all newly adopted House Rule changes
2. Engage directly with concerned owners in an open forum to discuss these issues
3. Commit that any future changes materially affecting owner rights or enforcement authority will be pursued through proper process, including transparency, full discussion, and a formal member vote where required by the governing documents

We believe this approach will help protect the financial health of the co-op and rebuild trust within the community.
It is about ensuring that major changes affecting owner rights, financial obligations, and enforcement authority are addressed transparently, collaboratively, and with appropriate member involvement, rather than through unilateral action that exposes the Cooperative to unnecessary risk.

Families Say Stop! Let’s Change Strategy at LIFV

PL/EN below

PL – My, rodzice uczniów Lycée Français de Varsovie (LIFV), odrzucamy obecną strategię, która zagraża trwałości i przyszłości szkoły. Kolejne podwyżki czesnego osiągnęły swoje granice: nadmiernie obciążają rodziny i przyspieszają spadek liczby uczniów.
Wzywamy dyrekcję LIFV oraz AEFE do natychmiastowego podjęcia działań i wdrożenia następujących środków:
1. Trwałego opanowania kosztów, w szczególności kosztów zatrudnienia, oraz dostosowania zasobów kadrowych i infrastruktury do rzeczywistej liczby uczniów.
2. Zaprzestania przerzucania ciężaru finansowego wyłącznie na rodziny, poprzez wykluczenie dalszych podwyżek czesnego bez wcześniejszych reform strukturalnych.
3. Zwiększenia atrakcyjności LIFV poprzez jasną i mierzalną strategię poprawy oferty edukacyjnej i jakości usług, aby zatrzymać spadek liczby uczniów.

EN – We, parents of the Lycée Français de Varsovie (LIFV), reject the current strategy, which threatens the long-term sustainability of the school. Repeated increases in tuition fees have reached their limits: they place an excessive burden on families and further accelerate the decline in student numbers.
We call on the LIFV management and the AEFE to take immediate action by implementing the following measures:
1. Ensure long-term control of expenses, particularly staffing costs, and adjust human and infrastructure resources to actual enrollment levels.
2. Stop placing the financial burden solely on families, by ruling out any further tuition fee increases without prior structural reforms.
3. Restore the attractiveness of the LIFV through a clear and measurable strategy to improve the educational offering and services, in order to halt the decline in enrollment.

Switzerland has become a major hub for international technology companies and critical infrastructure. Global firms such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Meta, and IBM are investing billions of Swiss francs in infrastructure, operations, and long-term growth in Switzerland. In these international environments, English is commonly used as the working language.
Security professionals working in critical infrastructure sites and high-occupancy venues are expected to follow international standards, communicate clearly under pressure, and respond effectively to emergencies. Yet the Federal professional qualification for security officers (FSB/SFB) is currently offered only in German, French, and Italian. While these languages are essential and should remain available, the absence of an English option creates a barrier for professionals who operate daily in English-speaking environments.

Use of electric dirt bikes in Springs and Meadows communities

To:
Emaar Community Management
Community Management Office
Springs & Meadows
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dear Sir / Madam,
On behalf of families and residents of the Springs community—particularly Springs 3—we would like to begin by acknowledging and sincerely appreciating the continued efforts of Emaar Community Management in creating, maintaining, and enhancing a safe, family-oriented, and well-managed residential environment.
We recognize the considerable investment and care that goes into landscaping, infrastructure, security, and community amenities, all of which contribute to the high quality of life that residents value deeply. It is precisely because of this shared commitment to safety, wellbeing, and responsible community stewardship that we write to you with growing concern regarding a serious and escalating public safety issue within our neighbourhood.
Serious Safety Concerns Regarding the Use of Electric Dirt Bikes in the Community
Residents are increasingly alarmed by the frequent and unsafe use of electric dirt bikes (e-bikes)—as depicted in the imagery circulated in the accompanying petition—on public roads, internal community roads, and pedestrian pathways within the Springs.
For clarity, this concern excludes the appropriate and responsible use of electric bicycles by gardeners, security personnel, and maintenance staff operating in the course of their duties.
Our concerns are threefold:
1.Dangerous and Reckless Operation
The majority of these e-bikes are being operated at excessive speeds, often with deliberate risk-taking behaviours that pose a clear danger to riders, pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and families.
2.Use by Unsupervised Children and Youth
Many of these vehicles are being operated by minors, frequently without adult supervision, training, licensing, or appropriate protective gear—placing both the riders themselves and other community members at significant risk of serious injury or worse.
3.Escalating and Recurrent Incidents
What was once an occasional issue has now become a daily occurrence, with residents—particularly in Springs 3—reporting repeated and distressing incidents, including but not limited to:
* E-bikes riding on one wheel at speed along Al Asayel Road during rush hour
* E-bikes performing wheelies down internal community streets
* High-speed riding along pedestrian pathways, forcing mothers with strollers off the path
* Riders engaging in “chicken” with moving vehicles
* Bullying, aggressive, and intimidating behaviour directed at drivers and pedestrians, including when children are present in vehicles

These behaviours are not merely disruptive; they represent a clear and present public health and safety risk. Families have a reasonable and legitimate expectation to enjoy community roads, walkways, and shared spaces without fear of injury or intimidation caused by the misuse of high-powered motorized vehicles.
Respectful Request for Decisive Action
With respect and in the spirit of collaboration, we formally and respectfully request that Emaar Community Management:

* Ban the use of electric dirt bikes on community roads and pedestrian pathways, and
* Enforce clear rules restricting their operation within residential areas, consistent with safety, legal, and community standards.

These vehicles are inherently powerful and, when used by untrained minors in shared public spaces, can have potentially fatal consequences. They are more appropriately used in non-public environments such as designated off-road areas, dirt tracks, or desert locations where their use is lawful, intended, and safer.
Parallel Engagement with Authorities
Please note that a copy of this letter and the accompanying petition is being shared with Dubai Police, with a respectful request that:

* The use of such e-bikes by youth be prohibited on public roads, and
* Their operation be restricted to appropriate non-public areas in accordance with safety regulations and intended use.

This step is taken not in opposition to Emaar, but in recognition that this issue spans community management, public safety, and traffic enforcement.
Closing
We submit this letter with sincere respect for Emaar Community Management and with appreciation for your leadership and responsiveness in safeguarding family-oriented communities. Our request is made in the shared interest of protecting children, preserving public safety, and maintaining the calm, secure character of the Springs.
We would be grateful to receive confirmation of how this matter will be addressed and what steps may be taken to mitigate further risk.
Thank you for your time, attention, and continued commitment to the wellbeing of residents.
With sincere regards and appreciation,
On behalf of concerned residents and families of Springs 3, with sincere and many thanks.

United Kingdom to join the Creative Europe programme from 2027

This is a Europe-wide petition calling on the UK Government to formally declare the United Kingdom's interest in fully participating in the EU's Creative Europe programme (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/creative-europe) from 2027.
We, the undersigned, citizens from across the EU and the UK, call on the Government of the United Kingdom to:
1. Formally declare the United Kingdom's interest in participating fully in the EU's Creative Europe programme from 2027, to be addressed to the European Commission by May 2026;
2. Enter formal negotiations with the relevant EU institutions with the aim of establishing UK participation in the EU’s Creative Europe programme from 2027;
3. Commit to continue the UK's participation in the follow-up programme to Creative Europe from 2028.

We urge the UK Government to act in the interest of cultural and artistic exchanges, in recognition of the significant contribution of creativity to economic growth, and in support of stronger EU-UK relations.
This petition is an initiative by the Forum on EU-UK Cultural & Media Relations (http://www.forum-uk.eu/).
--
Why does this matter?
The EU and the UK are strategically important partners with historically aligned approaches to research, education, and cultural engagement. In 2024, the UK officially rejoined the Horizon Europe (https://research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu/funding/funding-opportunities/funding-programmes-and-open-calls/horizon-europe_en) research programme as an associated member. In 2025, it was agreed that it will join Erasmus+ (https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/about-erasmus/what-is-erasmus). It is now time for the UK to join Creative Europe.
The Creative Europe programme (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/creative-europe) is a multiplier of creativity. It allows organisations from the Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS) to pool their resources and co-create, develop, and distribute cultural and creative goods and services in a wide range of subjects (ranging from literature and publishing, the performing arts, design, architecture and cultural heritage to music, film and the audiovisual sector, including partnerships with Public Service Broadcasters such as the BBC) for which there is neither sufficient interest from the market nor adequate support from national funding agencies. It strengthens artistic freedom and cultural diversity, supports experimentation and pluralism, engages audiences of all ages, and enhances the lives of hundreds of millions of people. One of its strands, MEDIA (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/creative-europe/creative-europe-media-strand), is an established and well-known brand in the audiovisual sector.
The programme’s impact also goes beyond the CCS. In the 41 countries – many outside the EU – that currently participate in the programme, projects funded under Creative Europe build understanding and positive narratives, support innovation, and contribute to growth.
Regrettably, with the end of the UK’s EU membership, the UK left Creative Europe, hurting the CCS, our societies, and our democracies on both sides of the Channel.

VFX artists call for mandatory investment for streaming services

Dear MPs Rabanus & Reddig,
We are the invisible ones in the film industry. When we do our work well, no one notices we were part of the production at all. We create fantastical worlds where there was only a green screen. We give life to digital creatures, superpowers to the superheroes, and build unreal landscapes. We are the ones who make it possible to revive old historic sites, spectacularly blow up buildings on screen, fill stadiums with cheering digital crowds, and ensure that small mistakes on set do not make it into the final cut.
We are visual effects artists (VFX artists).
The crisis that has hit the film industry in recent years has affected us particularly hard. Digital effects are labour-intensive and expensive, and only well-funded productions can use them at scale. Covid and the strikes in the United States shook this key pillar of Hollywood production. Streaming services, all based in the United States and contributing very little in taxation in Germany, have abruptly and permanently reshaped the landscape for films and TV series. The lack of investment in German film has done the rest. More and more often, we are forced into short-time working arrangements. Staff are being laid off in stages, and in many cases companies are ultimately closing down.
In 2022, for example, a renowned German VFX studio with an international reputation was bought by a major US streaming service. Shortly afterwards, the company was “restructured”; all German sites were closed, the brand was dropped, and hundreds of VFX artists in Germany were left without jobs almost overnight.
We, the undersigned VFX artists in Germany, therefore ask you to advocate for a statutory investment obligation for streaming services and to support its swift implementation, as envisaged by the traffic light coalition government and originally advocated by Minister of State for Culture Wolfram Weimer.
The stability and predictability that a statutory investment obligation would bring are essential in the current situation. What has been destroyed over the last three years cannot be rebuilt through “voluntary commitments” and empty promises. Film productions and VFX studios urgently need support, not only to prevent further redundancies and closures, but also to give film-makers confidence that there is a future for them in this country. This would allow teams to be rebuilt and endangered sites to stay open. It would also give graduates of German film schools, where significant investment is still being made, the chance to develop their talents here in Germany. Above all, it would give German film culture a real chance of survival.
Please take action while there is still something left to save.
Yours sincerely,
The undersigned VFX artists:

Oppose Local Law Enforcement Collaboration with ICE: Vote NO on AL HB 13

To: The Sponsors of HB13 and the Alabama Legislature
Re: Opposition to HB13 and its expansion of immigration-enforcement powers:
We, the undersigned Alabama residents and stakeholders, oppose HB13 in its current form. The bill would authorize state and local law enforcement to collaborate with federal agencies to enforce federal immigration laws, detain, remove, or investigate individuals based on immigration status, and allow arrests with probable cause or reasonable suspicion under such arrangements. This expansion risks civil liberties, erodes public trust, and diverts limited resources from core public safety duties.
Why HB13 should not be enacted:
Civil liberties and trust: Expanding immigration enforcement by local officers threatens constitutional rights and undermines trust in police, particularly in immigrant communities.
Public safety: Fear of policing based on immigration status may deter crime reporting and cooperation with investigations.
Fiscal and practical burden: Implementing federal–state collaborations requires new training, oversight, and administrative costs. Our local law enforcement agencies are stretched thin. Local officers need to focus on local crime and safety issues; they should not be focused on federal immigration enforcement. This bill weakens their ability to respond to the needs of the communities they serve.
Legal, jurisdictional and accountability concerns: Greater exposure to civil rights lawsuits and unclear accountability for local agencies. Creating parallel immigration enforcement by state/local officers can complicate and undermine the coordination of federal immigration policy
What we urge:
Do not pass HB13 in its current form.
Do not permit state/local officers, under MOUs with federal agencies, to inquire about immigration status beyond established criminal enforcement or to conduct immigration investigations without explicit, narrow limits and strong due-process protections.
If any inquiry is allowed, ensure it is restricted to specific criminal investigations, with guaranteed rights to counsel, and independent oversight to prevent profiling or civil rights violations.
Thank you for considering the public safety and civil liberties of all Alabama residents.

The Royal Decree of 6 July 1976 protecting Fort Napoleon and its surroundings is under threat from property developers. They want to fill the area with high-rise apartment buildings. This threatens to destroy this inland dune area (Fortstraat, Vuurtorenweg), an open space of almost 4 hectares (40,000 m²), even though the purpose of the protection decree is precisely to protect this unique area as a cultural-historical landscape! Moreover, an inland dune is the natural biotope at this location and, given the chance, that dune would naturally recover completely with all its specific flora and fauna.

This is about the recent notice to evict stray dogs from the IIT (ISM) Dhanbad campus. I truly believe that no decision can be justified when it is taken against the weak and the voiceless. Dogs are an integral part of our environment, even in an academic institution. Displacing them in the name of campus safety is both unjust and inhumane. With recent Supreme Court rulings being widely misinterpreted, these animals are increasingly being left to starve or subjected to cruelty by individuals who feel licensed to harm them. This situation calls for urgent compassion and responsible action, not displacement and neglect. This is heartbreaking. They did nothing to deserve such treatment. This is a heartfelt appeal to protect those who do not deserve such a fate. I request you to support this cause by signing the petition opposing the new circular on the eviction of stray dogs from the campus.
While the issue of dog bites must certainly be addressed, eviction is not the solution. A more humane and sustainable approach—through sterilization, vaccination, and coexistence, is necessary. Many of us have grown attached to these dogs. Their presence has brought comfort, calm, and even emotional support to students and staff. Taking them away will only create fear and distress, not safety.
Please choose empathy over fear. Let us protect both people and animals, and not turn our campus into a place of suffering for those who already have so little.

Demand Independent Inquiry & Immediate Release of Dr. Reiner Fuellmich

Demand Independent Inquiry & Immediate Release of Dr. Reiner Fuellmich – Before It’s Our Turn
Dr. Reiner Fuellmich, an international lawyer and co-founder of the Corona Investigative Committee, has been in pre-trial detention in Germany since October 2023 — over two years — on embezzlement charges that remain subject to appeal.
Key claims that raise serious concerns:
* Transfer from Mexico (October 2023): Fuellmich was detained at Tijuana airport and returned to Germany. The defense alleges no formal extradition process was followed and the deportation order was issued after his arrest (see defense submissions in case 5 KLs 504 Js 35904/22 LG Göttingen).
* Pre-trial detention: More than two years, including periods of solitary confinement — raising questions of proportionality under ECHR Art. 5 (right to liberty) and German law (§ 112 StPO).
* Trial proceedings: The defense claims evidence was excluded (e.g., BGH precedents on protective intent) and original prosecutor archived the case before a new prosecutor revived it (see judgment and defense filings).
* Pending appeal: Fuellmich remains detained in JVA Bremervörde despite ongoing proceedings at OLG Braunschweig.

We demand:
1. An independent external inquiry into the transfer from Mexico and the fairness of the proceedings.
2. Immediate review and release from pre-trial detention pending appeal, consistent with ECHR standards.

Sign now. Share widely.
Justice for Reiner Fuellmich is justice for all of us.

Tell City Leadership That You Are Concerned About Data Centers!

Living just a few miles from the Google data center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I am deeply concerned. Not only for my own well-being, but also for the safety and quality of life of my neighbors, friends, family, and the entire community of Fort Wayne, New Haven, Allen County, and unincorporated Allen County.
Many of us have built our lives and futures here, establishing deep roots with an expectation of safety and a high quality of life. We are invested in and paying attention to projects that could potentially bring great harm to all of our lives, and the Google data center, already under construction in Fort Wayne, Indiana, poses significant risks to our financial security, energy grid stability, access to safe and clean drinking water, public health and safety, our environment and wildlife, privacy and data surveillance, and more.
Recently, it has been implied that concerns about data centers come from a small but loud group of people who do not represent the concerns of the average resident. We want to let our city leadership know that our concerns are held by a large and growing number of people – please sign and share this petition so we can show our representatives that our concerns are not small and that we are a people who will fight for our lives and demand better from those we have placed in positions of power.

Stand with Iran! Freedom, unity, democracy!

By signing this petition, we refuse to remain silent. As Christians, we are called to stand for truth, justice, and the dignity of every human life. The mass killing and repression of peaceful citizens in Iran constitute grave human rights violations that demand immediate and decisive action. More than 20,000 lives have already been lost—this injustice cannot be ignored.
Scripture calls us to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves” and to defend the oppressed. Therefore, we raise our voices together, praying and acting for a future marked by freedom, peace, and human dignity for the people of Iran.
Guided by our faith and conscience, we stand in solidarity with the people of Iran in their struggle for freedom, democracy, and justice. We support the call of Reza Pahlavi, Crown Prince of Iran in exile, for national unity, peaceful regime change, and full respect for fundamental human rights.
Act now. Speak out. Stand with the people of Iran by supporting the following six demands of the Iranian people:
1-Dismantle the regime’s machinery of repression and protect the people of Iran
2-Cut off the regime’s financial lifelines in full
3-Ensure free internet and communications for the people of Iran
4-Expel the regime’s ‘Diplomats’ and prosecute its criminals
5-Immediate release of all political prisoners
6-Prepare to recognize a legitimate transitional government to lead Iran toward democracy

PETITION FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE “BOUTIQUE ENZYMES”

The management of the Institut Pasteur has announced to part of the staff the forthcoming closure of the Boutique Enzymes, without any prior information to or consultation with the Social and Economic Committee (CSE), even though this decision, which is economic and social in nature, has direct consequences for work organization and employment. This is contrary to the French Labor Code.
Following the formal alert sent on 24 December 2025 by the STRP-CGT, the response stating that “a reflection is underway” cannot be considered sufficient, since concrete elements have already been communicated to staff. This “reflection” is especially surprising given that the survey conducted in 2024 showed a 95% satisfaction rate with the services provided by the Boutique Enzymes.
The Boutique Enzymes is an essential local service for many teams, ensuring responsiveness, expertise, and continuity of scientific activity. No consultation of users or assessment of the impact of this closure on their daily work appears to have been carried out.

We, the parents of Ghent city schools, are concerned and outraged about the announced cuts to childcare (STIBO).
The city has decided to cut 35 full-time equivalents in after-school childcare within Ghent's municipal schools, abolish morning supervision by the city between 7am and 8am, and increase childcare prices. This is much more than a budgetary measure. It is a direct attack on the balance of our families, the well-being of our children and respect for staff.
These measures affect us all:
* parents, who will have to bear higher costs and, without STIBO support, will find it even more difficult to combine their work and life with their family,
* children, who are entitled to quality childcare, a warm, stable place with trusted carers
* schools, which are unexpectedly responsible for providing extra morning childcare with uncertain additional resources, where teachers cannot work without the support of STIBO
* and, above all, the childcare workers, who play an essential role in the lives of our children but are now being pushed into an uncertain and unfair position.

That is why we are calling for solidarity. What is at stake here is more than just the budget: it is about dignity, about care, about the foundations of our education system.
We oppose these cuts. We advocate the opposite: more investment, more stability, more respect for staff.

We stand at a historic turning point. We demand a transition from the centralized "top-down" power model to a Democracy of the Base. We advocate for a state defined by active citizen participation, local strategic planning, and strict accountability. Democracy is not being abolished; it is being evolved and fortified.
The Necessity
In an era where technology and modern European practices empower citizens to be co-deciders, Greece cannot remain captive to a centralized model of the past.
Aligning with 21st-century democratic standards, we call for a transition from the "power of the few" to a network of self-governed communities with institutionalized local planning.

Boycott X

Get your representatives and governments from X, right now!
Billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of X, supported the presidential election of Donald Trump with hundreds of millions of dollars (https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/01/politics/elon-musk-2024-election-spending-millions). Trump torpedoed afterwards the U.S. climate agenda, seizes oil in a neo-colonial manner, undermines democracy and even threatens the EU by considering an invasion of Greenland.
On X itself, Musk compares the EU to the Nazis (https://www.brusselstimes.com/1872346/eu-claps-back-at-musk-after-he-says-bloc-should-be-abolished) for taking lawful action against shady practices on his platform under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Beyond the widespread presence of hardcore pornography, documented cases reveal that Musk’s chatbot Grok has generated sexually suggestive (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/jan/05/elon-musk-grok-ai-digitally-undress-images-of-women-children) or degrading imagery that crosses legal boundaries, including child-protection laws, and contributes to the dehumanization of women and minors.
Yet countless European, national, regional, and local public institutions — as well as elected officials — continue to use X as a primary communication channel. By doing so, they generate traffic, indirectly contribute to advertising revenue, and legitimize a platform that actively undermines Europe’s democratic information space.
This raises a fundamental question: why do public authorities continue to rely on a platform that contradicts the values they are meant to uphold? Have they lost their minds?
Call on them now to stop using X as a platform for communication and public interaction and, ideally, to shut down their accounts! The current environment on X promotes hate, disinformation, sexism and racism, and it is incompatible with the values of the European Union and its member states.
We stand united in our commitment to protecting European sovereignty, our democratic values, and the integrity of our information space.
You can support this campaign by signing the petition and contacting your elected representatives.

Petition for a Memorial Dedicated to the 42 Citizens of Our Partner City Ramat Gan Who Were Murdered

Petition for a Memorial Dedicated to the 42 Citizens of Our Partner City Ramat Gan Who Were Murdered by Hamas and Have Fallen in the War Against the Terrorist Organization
Matter of Concern
We call upon the City of Kassel to establish a memorial at a suitable location in Kassel's city center. This site should provide a fitting tribute to the more than forty citizens of our partner city who have been murdered since October 7, 2023, or who have fallen in the struggle against antisemitic terror gangs in Gaza. This initiative aims to make visible the extent of the antisemitic terror that has also affected our partner city, Ramat Gan. It is vital that we remember the murdered and fallen citizens of Ramat Gan.
Memorial Plaque / Stele
We advocate for a memorial plaque, stele, or memorial stone that commemorates the victims of the war by name and educates the public on the deadly scale that antisemitism can reach. In Kassel, the victims of National Socialism—the majority of whom were Kassel’s Jews—are remembered at various locations. In the recent past, victims of right-wing extremist terrorism have also been memorialized. We believe that by creating a memorial plaque for the victims from our partner city, the City of Kassel demonstrates its solidarity with both the Jewish State of Holocaust survivors and the people of Ramat Gan, thereby upholding the frequently declared responsibility toward German history.

Improve road safety outside Vaughan Primary School, Harrow

We, the undersigned parents and carers of children at Vaughan Primary School, are calling on Harrow Council to urgently review and improve road safety outside the school.
In recent months, there have been multiple serious incidents involving children being struck by vehicles on the road immediately outside the school gates, during drop-off and pick-up times. These incidents have occurred following changes to the road layout, which many parents feel have created confusion for drivers and unsafe conditions for pedestrians.
The current situation presents an unacceptable risk to children, families, and school staff.
We are therefore asking Harrow Council to:
* carry out an urgent road safety assessment outside the school,
* review collision and near-miss data since the road layout changes,
* and introduce appropriate safety measures, including serious consideration of a School Street scheme or equivalent traffic restrictions during school hours.

The safety of children travelling to and from school must be a priority. We urge the council to act quickly to prevent further incidents and to work with the school and local community on a lasting solution.
Signed,
Parents and carers of pupils at Vaughan Primary School, Harrow

For this reason, we support massive and rapid public investment in our countries, on the order of $100–300 billion, focused on AI infrastructure, research, startups, and strategic technologies and resources. Public money is our best bet because it gives us a say in how AI is developed.

Support Southern Electorates to Pressure Their MPs to Pass the Sanctions Bill

Why Southern Electorates?
Since only 6 non-executive MPs from the coalition are now required to bring the Unlawful Occupation of Palestine Sanctions Bill to the floor of parliament, our focus needs to be on them. Local pressure is best since it is literally closer to home for these MPs, who depend on our votes.
Here in the deep south, Dunedin and Taieri electorates are governed by sensible Labour MPs who already support the Sanctions Bill, and this petition is designed to provide a tangible way for constituents from these neighbouring electorates to help the Waitaki, Invercargill and Southland Electorates show their MPs -- namely Joseph Mooney (Southland), Miles Anderson (Waitaki), and Penny Simmonds (Invercargill) -- that the majority of their neighbours also want New Zealand to uphold international law and impose sanctions on Israel as a matter of urgency.
Should I Sign Here?
Since our pressure focal points are geographic, please check your eligibility before you sign.
We kindly ask all people in the Southland, Waitaki, and Invercargill electorates NOT to sign this petition, but instead, go to the following Linktree, find your particular electorate by clicking on the second tab, "Sign the Open Letter for your Electorate", then follow the instructions. This is a wonderful United for Palestine / All Out for Gaza combined initiative happening nationwide and we want all these signatures in their proper place:
United for Palestine NZ | Instagram | Linktree (https://linktr.ee/unitedforpalestine_)
While our main focus is the deep south, this petition is also open to other electorates but limited to South Islanders from the lists below (we ask North Islanders not to sign, but they can use our final figures to encourage their coalition, non-exec electorate MPs too!)
"Non-executive" means that to count under the Standing Order to help pass this Member's Bill, these MPs must not have ministerial portfolios or secretarial roles -- so in the South Island, this excludes for instance:
Rangitata (MP James Meager)
Selwyn (MP Nicola Grigg)
Waimakariri (MP Matt Doocey)
Constituents from those electorates are welcome to sign here!
South Island electorates with MPs who already support the Bill and who are also welcome to sign here:
Te Tai Tongo (MP Takuta Ferris)
Nelson (MP Rachel Boyack)
Wigram (MP Megan Woods)
Christchurch Central (MP Duncan Webb)
Christchurch East (MP Reuben Davidson)
Other South Island electorates with non-executive MPs to convince, and who should instead sign their own Open Letter via the Linktree link above and NOT this petition, are:
West Coast-Tasman (MP Maureen Pugh)
Banks Peninsula (MP Vanessa Weenik)
Ilam (MP Hamish Campbell)
Kaikoura (MP Stuart Smith)

We, the Broadcasting – Radio and Media Production and Journalism – Broadcast students at Fanshawe College, request a tuition reassessment or compensation for Winter 2026 due to the removal of access to CIXX-FM (106.9 The X), the licensed FM station promised in the program description. CIXX-FM provides essential experiential training, including licensed on-air broadcasting, regulatory compliance, station operations, sales, and live remotes training that cannot be replaced by CFRL or online platforms.
We ask Fanshawe College to provide a tuition adjustment, a formal acknowledgment of this program change, and a clear plan outlining how the lost educational value will be addressed

Absorption of Interns to Permanent employees

I am advocating for the permanent employment of interns within the Department of Employment and Labour. Every week, many job posts are advertised in the circular, yet the Department already has interns who have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to perform these roles. Instead of continually advertising new vacancies, the Department should consider absorbing the existing interns into permanent positions.

Rethinking Torstraße to make it more vibrant - Shaping the future together with the residents

Torstraße, one of the most important streets in Berlin's Mitte district, is to be renovated and redesigned. The Berlin Senate plans to spend over €10 million on the first construction phase between Chausseestraße and Rosenthaler Platz alone. It is rare for an existing street to be renovated across its entire width, from house to house. This offers a unique opportunity to design the future street in a sustainable way, as the way the street is rebuilt now, must function well for the next 50 to 80 years. And that's in the face of heat, drought and heavy rain, changing mobility and a city that continues to grow.
As citizens, parents and grandparents, business owners, restaurant owners and other users, we demand better planning that takes the needs of all stakeholders into account. We want a functioning Torstraße that is safe and sustainable, environmentally friendly and attractive for everyone.
Our demands:
Preserve the trees on Torstraße!
Preserve all existing trees and hedges for a liveable neighbourhood, for heat protection, improving air quality and protecting species. Comply with the requirements of Berlin's Climate 2.0 urban development plan and the new Berlin Climate Adaptation Act. Where trees must be felled due to poor vitality, appropriate replanting must take place on site. Replacement of trees lost in recent years and compliance with Berlin's biodiversity strategy. Effective protection of existing habitats and integration into planning.

A sustainable and functional street!
Our city is changing rapidly and at the same time facing major challenges. The city needs public spaces that can cope with these changes. The current plans do not meet these requirements in any way. Thanks to its extensive renovation, Torstraße offers a real opportunity to become a model for a future-proof Berlin street. This means:
* Reduction of lanes for motorised traffic to a reasonable level based on the requirements of relevant planning guidelines and actual current traffic counts. Consequently, compliance with the quality standards of the Mobility Act without deviations: With current traffic volumes, only one lane per direction for motorised traffic is required, thus providing sufficient space for safe cycle lanes within the existing road profile while reducing emissions and noise
* Consistent design for 30 km/h speed limits that does not suggest that fast driving is permitted here. Permanent enforcement through speed checks and speed-reducing elements.
* Maintaining at least the current width of sidewalks and tree/green strips without interference from moving traffic. With sensible planning, there is enough space within the current car lanes for safe cycling without taking up sidewalk space.
* Safe pedestrian crossings at all relevant locations to provide the necessary safety, especially for children, the elderly and people with reduced mobility.
* Continuous, safe cycle lanes, separated from both pedestrian and car traffic.
* Routes for emergency vehicles that, unlike the current Senate plan, truly ensure that emergency services can get through quickly. An extra-wide cycle lane as a ‘safety lane’ has proven effective for this purpose. Too many and excessively wide motor vehicle lanes do not solve the problem, rather create new ones.
* Side areas of the road organised for everyday use, which provide clearly understandable options for delivery traffic, necessary parking, disabled parking spaces, Jelbi stations and school bus stops.

Immediate involvement of affected parties, users and other experts in the planning process!
An area that is so important for our city must be planned with consideration for the diverse life on Torstraße. Principles for participation in Berlin and the Mitte district must be observed, public participation must be carried out, and transport and planning associations must be involved. We therefore want the planning of the street to be put on hold until comprehensive participation has taken place, in which all stakeholders (residents, educational and health institutions, parents, senior citizens, business owners and users of various modes of transport) can express their opinions and discuss them with each other without being played off against each other, as is the case today. The diverse requirements for this important public space in Berlin Mitte should be reconciled as well as possible.

We demand that the Berlin Senate Administration for Mobility, Traffic, Climate Protection and Environment rethink its transport policy and redesign Torstraße in line with the above requirements.

We demand an immediate halt to all decisions by the Senate regarding the tendering and awarding of contracts for the redevelopment measures based on the current, inadequate plans for Torstraße.

Westport School Traffic Warden reinstatement

Restoration of the Traffic Warden on the N59 Westport at Scoil Phádraig
As of November 2025, the pedestrian crossing on the N59 at Scoil Phádraig, Westport, no longer has a Traffic Warden present during school drop-off and collection times. Historically, a Traffic Warden has always been on duty at this crossing each morning and afternoon.
This pedestrian crossing experiences heavy use between 8:30–9:00 a.m. and 2:25–2:45 p.m., serving students from both Scoil Phádraig and Holy Trinity National School. The schools are situated on the N59 — one of the main national primary routes into Westport — adjacent to a busy service station and near the New Road and one of the town’s major supermarkets.

Scoil Phádraig operates as a ‘Park and Stride’ school. From its inception, it was designed on the basis that parents cannot access the school grounds by car; instead, all access is on foot. The layout and approach routes, approved by Mayo County Council, reflect this commitment to pedestrian access. The school also works closely with the Westport Smarter Travel initiative, which promotes sustainable travel options within the town and its environs.

Because of this design, Scoil Phádraig has a particularly strong need for a dedicated Traffic Warden to ensure the safety of pupils and parents crossing the N59, and to maintain the smooth flow of traffic during peak hours. This need had been consistently met by Mayo County Council from the school’s opening until September 2025.

Parents of both Scoil Phádraig and Holy Trinity National School are deeply concerned about the removal of the Traffic Warden — especially during dark winter mornings — and urge Mayo County Council to reinstate this vital safety measure without delay.
The absence of a Traffic Warden not only poses a serious safety risk to schoolchildren who have long relied on this support, but it also contributes to traffic disruption for all road users on the N59 entering Westport.
We therefore call on Mayo County Council to restore the Traffic Warden position at the N59 crossing at Scoil Phádraig in the interest of safety and community well-being.

Haus ohne Strom, ohne Heizung, ohne Warmwasser: Wie lange noch? Politik muss handeln!

* Einschüchterungsversuche gegenüber Mieter*innen
* mehrfach fragwürdige Mieterhöhungen
* Abmahnungen und Kündigungen mit falschen Daten
* Vorwürfe angeblich illegaler Untervermietungen
* grobe Verstöße gegen Datenschutz (Namen/Wohnungen vertauscht)
* letzte Betriebskostenabrechnung stammt aus dem Jahr 2016
* vermüllte Hinterhöfe, mangelnde Instandhaltung
* Rattenbefall
* illegale Zweckentfremdung: mehrere Wohnungen wurden mit Doppelstockbetten vollgestellt und an Geflüchtete weitervermietet
* 4–6 Betten pro Zimmer, je Bett ~500 €
* Mietverträge liegen den Bewohner*innen vor
* eine Zwischenfirma (Eichenland GmbH) agiert als Strohfirma
* Unklarheit, ob überhaupt eine rechtmäßige Hausverwaltung existiert
* zeitweise war eine Nox Capital GmbH benannt
* diese Firma steht ebenfalls im Firmengeflecht um Julian Kunz

Petition for Student Protection in Field Placements in Quebec

Student teachers commit to a full-time, unpaid, 3-month placement, during which we are unable to work and must cover transportation and living expenses without any compensation. Given these conditions, it is crucial that all students receive fair treatment, clear protections, and transparent processes.
Recently, situations have occurred in which students were removed from their placements based solely on a single cooperating teacher’s claims, without evidence, without a formal evaluation, without follow-up observation, and without a meaningful opportunity to respond.
This has resulted in significant emotional, academic, and financial harm, including students being forced to retake entire semesters or extend their studies at their own expense.
These cases reveal major gaps in the current system, including the absence of an appeal process, the possibility of biased or discriminatory decisions, and the concentration of excessive decision-making power in the hands of a single individual.
This is not compatible with McGill’s commitments to equity, professionalism, and student well-being.
We request the following changes:
1. A multi-step review before removal from a placement, including:
* a documented meeting,
* an observation by a neutral second evaluator,
* a written decision provided to the student.

2. An independent field placement ombudsperson to review removals, address potential bias, ensure fair procedures, and support student's well-being and mental health.
3. Mandatory anti-bias, anti-racism, and equity training for all cooperating teachers.
4. Financial protections for student teachers, such as travel compensation, tuition coverage when removal is not evidence-based, and exploration of paid internship models.
5. Clear criteria for removal, defining valid grounds (documented behaviour) and invalid grounds (personal discomfort, unsupported suspicion, or bias).
6. A formal appeal process allowing students to challenge removal decisions before their academic progression is affected.

Recognition of Work on Open-Source as Volunteering in Germany

Open-Source-Software builds the foundations of digital infrastructure in big parts - in administration, economy, science and daily life. Even the current coalition agreement of the Federal Government mentions Open-Source-Software as a fundamental building block for the achievement of digital sovereignty.
However, the work done by thousands of volunteers for this goal is not recognised as volunteering, neither fiscally nor in terms of funding. This imbalance between societal importance and legal status has to be corrected.
Therefore, as an active contributor to Open-Source-Projects, I call for work on Open-Source to be recognised as volunteering for the common good – of equal rank as volunteer work for associations, youth work or ambulance service.

Save EU’s telecom, networks and AI know-how before it’s gone – ACT NOW for EU's digital sovereignty!

Save EU’s telecom, networks and AI know-how before it’s gone – ACT NOW
While many people associate Nokia with its historic role in mobile phones, today the company is one of the key European providers of network infrastructure, including 5G and future communication technologies. Every wireless data transfer relies on this infrastructure to reach its destination. As one of the two European vendors, if not the only, in this field, Nokia plays a central role in ensuring Europe’s connectivity is built on European standards, laws, and values, including strong data protection and privacy.
Therefore it is deeply concerning to read about the recent decisions affecting Nokia’s integrity in the EU — including the planned closure of the Munich site by 2030 and the layoff of hundreds of employees in Germany, France, Italy, Greece and more. These actions weaken one of Europe’s vital strategic technology providers at a time when the EU is actively working to strengthen its sovereignty from China and the US.
According to a 2025 European Parliament report A10-0107/2025, the EU currently relies on non-EU countries for more than 80% of its digital products, services, and infrastructure. This dependence poses significant security risks.
Telecommunications infrastructure is a cornerstone of Europe’s digital sovereignty. Yet today, firms such as Huawei and ZTE supply a large share of Europe’s 4G/5G networks: approximately 41% of European 5G subscribers rely on Chinese-built equipment, and 59% of Germany’s 5G RAN is sourced from these providers. Infrastructure not fully controlled by European entities undermines the union’s ability to secure its communications, protect sensitive data, and maintain technological independence.
Despite being the largest EU-based telecom vendor, Nokia’s future is now threatened by the scale of these site closures and workforce reductions. If this trajectory continues, Europe risks losing one of its only two major telecom vendors, leaving EU operators (such as Deutsche Telekom and Orange) with no deeply rooted EU-based choice for supplying critical network infrastructure.
This gets even worsened by the latest announcements of Ericsson, targeting a reduction of 1,600 positions in its homeland Sweden.

We therefore call for urgent attention and action at both EU and national levels to protect Europe’s technological sovereignty and ensure that essential EU-based vendors like Nokia can continue to operate, innovate, and compete. If no action is taken, the know-how, skills, and competitiveness that originated in Europe will be lost, leaving the EU in a weakened political and technological position in one of the most critical strategic domains while EU’s traditional allies are turning their backs on us.
Europe’s digital future depends on maintaining control over the infrastructure that keeps it connected.

This petition will be handed to the following political representatives:

- Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Friedrich Merz
- President of the French Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron
- President of the European Commission, Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen
- Minister-President of Bavaria, Mr. Dr. Markus Söder

VUB end your shameful partnership with Israel's largest arms company now

VUB: end your shameful partnership with Israel's largest arms company now!
During VUB's opening ceremony on 21 September 2025, we were shocked when Rector Danckaert proudly showcased a research project with Optique et Instruments de Précision (OIP), a subsidiary of Israel's largest arms company, Elbit Systems (S_ytb).
According to the VUB Jabalia Hall students Elbit Systems is the industrial arm of the ongoing genocide in Palestine. It supplies approximately 50% of Israel's total equipment, 85% of its air force's drone equipment (including the infamous Hermes 450 drone), and 85% of its army's equipment (S8). Between the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught in Gaza in October 2023 and the end of 2024, 17 export licenses for military goods to Israel were granted to OIP Elbit Systems in Oudenaarde by the Flemish government, for a total value of €22.7 million (S1).
Gaza is in ruins, and the violence is ongoing. The ceasefire is in name only, with at least 241 Palestinians killed since its announcement, while 1,500 more buildings have been destroyed. Meanwhile, the Brussels Photonics group (B-PHOT) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel collaborates with OIP Space Instruments in Oudenaarde for the development of advanced freeform optical components for space applications. Any scientific or other benefits of the collaboration cannot hide OIP-Elbit's responsibility for the genocide of the people in Gaza.
Announcing an Israeli arms company as a major corporate partner after two years of genocide and student mobilizations is a slap in the face. It is hypocritical for the rector to celebrate this partnership just before promising to not sign new agreements with Israeli partners (S10).
VUB, as a progressive university, must support civil society struggling to end the genocide instead of collaborating with genocidal companies. Anuna de Wever, a famous Belgian climate activist, has been prosecuted by OIP. Seven additional activists who participated in a mass action against OIP are being prosecuted in the Oudenaarde District Court by OIP-Elbit, which is claiming damages between €10,000 and €100,000 (S4). These activists' actions force VUB to confront its links to OIP and the genocide. If VUB was not aware of these links, that shows severe incompetence on the part of the ethical committees, which should be addressed. If VUB was aware of it, then the ethical committees are completely invalid.
Our university's complicity must end. We demand that VUB drops this shameful partnership immediately!

Resident parking permits on Howe parade port melb

We, the undersigned residents of Howe parade port Melbourne, request the City of Port Phillip Council to protect existing residents’ access to on-street parking by issuing resident permit parking.
The Barak Beacon site is being redeveloped by the Victorian Labor Government into a large high-density housing complex. This project has already caused severe parking disruption across Garden City, with construction workers occupying most available street spaces and creating congestion and access issues for long-term residents from 5am.
The problem will become far worse when the redevelopment is completed. Hundreds of new residents will compete for already limited street parking, with the site severely lacking in parking and the situation will be compounded by the Fishermans Bend urban renewal area, which will bring further high-density development and traffic into the same precinct.
Additionally, the new school on Williamstown rd will add daily traffic and parking pressure on Garden City’s residential streets, an area never designed to accommodate this level of demand.
We therefore request that the Council implement residential parking permits across both sides of Howe Parade.
PLEASE DO NOT SIGN AS SECRET OR HIDDEN AND ENSURE YOUR FULL ADDRESS IS INCLUDED OTHERWISE YOUR VOTE IS INVALID
