Wuppertal  finance issues

Dear Members of the Wuppertal City Council,
We are following the current developments surrounding the adoption of the budget and the budget consolidation plan on May 7th with great concern. So far, it appears that no agreement has been reached between the parties.
Should a timely adoption fail to materialise, a great deal is at stake for the entire city — across all areas and all departments. But above all, many social institutions as well as actors in the cultural scene are facing acute financial uncertainty and an existential threat. Subsidies they urgently depend on are being delayed by months — with the result that valuable work for the urban community is being put at risk, or in the worst case, comes to a complete standstill. And this has a direct impact on Wuppertal's economy and the city as a whole.
This is happening at a time when supplementary budgets and amended budgets offer real opportunities for course corrections and compromise. Against this backdrop, it is incomprehensible to us that an agreement has yet to be reached. What is needed now is responsibility, the capacity to act, and the willingness to find consensus.
The adoption of the budget must not be delayed any further! It is the foundation for stability, planning security, and the continued existence of a diverse social and cultural infrastructure in Wuppertal.
We, the independent scene, engage every single day — and have done so for decades — with the most diverse range of perspectives. We are varied, we are colourful, and we are accustomed to finding solutions through dialogue. This has always made us strong and capable of action, and it makes us strong and capable of action today as well.
We therefore make the following offer:
We offer the Council our expertise in solution-oriented design: we can help open up new paths. We know that sound, workable decisions are possible when all those involved are heard and take on responsibility together. We have developed methods for doing exactly this, and we are happy to make them available to the City Council in a facilitative capacity, for the benefit of all. Please reach out to us!
With this open letter, we combine an urgent appeal: Reach an agreement — NOW!
For a city capable of action.
For a strong social and cultural infrastructure.
With fresh momentum.
For Wuppertal.
The Enablers

End illegal pushbacks at the Morocco–Spain border

What Is Happening at the Borders
Migrants moving along the Western Mediterranean route between Morocco and Spain are continuing to experience unlawful pushbacks (https://www.infomigrants.net/en/post/70180/80000-migrants-pushed-back-at-eu-borders-in-2025-fewer-than-in-2024), collective expulsions, and border violence. These practices are reported at land border crossings in Ceuta and Melilla (https://borderviolence.eu/app/uploads/special-report-on-ceuta-and-melilla.pdf) as well as during maritime interceptions in the Mediterranean.
In many documented cases, individuals are returned without an individual assessment of their protection needs and without access to asylum procedures. These returns occur in conditions that raise serious concerns regarding compliance with international refugee and human rights law.
Reports (https://www.borderforensics.org/investigations/nadormelilla/) from people affected describe repeated interceptions and returns, including cases where the same individuals are pushed back multiple times. These practices often involve the immediate removal of people from border areas without due process, legal information, or access to interpretation or legal assistance.
There are also consistent accounts of physical harm, confiscation of personal belongings such as phones, shoes, and identity documents, and abandonment in remote or unsafe areas following return operations. These conditions contribute to heightened vulnerability and repeated exposure to dangerous crossing attempts.
These practices engage obligations under international law, including the prohibition of collective expulsions and the principle of non-refoulement, as well as the requirement to ensure access to asylum procedures.

COMMUNITY PETITION To Retain Principal Nichol Klein at Marshall Pomeroy Elementary School

To the Members of the Board of Education:
We, the undersigned parents, guardians, students, staff, and community members of Marshall Pomeroy Elementary School, urgently call upon the Board of Education to reverse the administrative decision to remove Principal Nichol Klein from her position. This decision — made without public explanation or community input — threatens to dismantle the very leadership that has made Marshall Pomeroy a place where every child can thrive.
We are not simply asking you to reconsider. We are demanding that the voices of hundreds of families who trust this school with their children's futures be heard.
Why Principal Nichol Klein Is Irreplaceable
Under Principal Klein's leadership, Marshall Pomeroy has seen remarkable growth and transformation:
• A safe, inclusive, and nurturing school culture where students feel seen, valued, and motivated to learn.
• Open and transparent communication with families — Principal Klein maintains an open door policy that has built deep trust within our school community.
• Dedicated support for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that no child is left behind or overlooked.
• A motivated and supported staff who consistently go above and beyond because they feel respected and heard.
• A strong sense of community pride and belonging — Marshall Pomeroy has become more than a school; it is a family.

The Impact of This Decision on Our Children
Replacing an effective, beloved principal — or without just cause — causes real and lasting harm to children. Research consistently shows that school leadership stability is one of the most critical factors in student achievement and well-being. Our children have already formed bonds of trust with Principal Klein. To remove her without explanation sends a deeply troubling message to every student: that the adults in charge of their future do not have to answer to them or their families.
We refuse to accept that outcome for our children.

Help Save PE (& Mr. Briggs) at Jefferson!

Jefferson Elementary needs your help!
The school district has decided to eliminate Jefferson's PE teacher position and have other staff try to cover this full-time role. This change would create widespread negative impacts—affecting clubs, programs, classrooms, teachers, students, and the overall health of our school community.
Enrollment has declined as families in north Richland opt for private schools, ALE programs like Homelink, or homeschooling. At the same time, boundary lines haven’t been adjusted to address this shift, and no new programs have been introduced to help attract and retain students.
If you’re able to sign this petition, it will help our Jefferson Eagles community. We would truly appreciate your support.

Immediately Applicable Solution Concept for Marine Mammal Protection in Germany

This concept does not merely call for a solution – it is the solution. Fully developed and ready for immediate deployment. It closes the current gap in establishing a national rescue and prevention system for our marine mammals.
The case of the stranded humpback whale Hope/Timmy in the Baltic Sea has revealed a critical gap: Germany does not have a state‑coordinated rescue system for large marine mammals, even though responsibilities are clearly defined in conservation law and the associated risks have been known for years.
An injured, exhausted animal for weeks —alone, disoriented, and entirely dependent on human responsibility—was left without clear procedures, defined responsibilities, or binding emergency measures.

The suffering of the whale has left many people stunned. Germany operates highly professional emergency coordination centers for human crises that can mobilize within minutes, yet even the most basic stabilizing measures for a marine mammal require lengthy administrative procedures. This contradiction has caused widespread frustration, especially since the Animal Welfare Act requires authorities to act promptly to prevent suffering.

For decades, it has been well known that large marine mammals frequently end up in distress due to human‑caused factors. Many European coastal nations have therefore established state‑organized rescue structures for marine mammals — Germany, however, has not.

The Netherlands, with only 451 km of coastline, operates a fully functional national coordination center. Germany, by contrast, has roughly 2,400 km of coastline and still no central operational structure. In the case of Hope/Timmy, the Netherlands could have provided assistance within a matter of hours — if Germany had requested it.
In countries where marine mammal rescues are consistently successful, a state‑run coordination center is always in place. In Germany, NGOs can observe but cannot act, as they lack the necessary authorization from the state authority.

This structural gap must be closed without delay.

IMMEDIATELY IMPLEMENTABLE MEASURES
1. Establishment of a Central Reporting Hotline for sightings of large marine mammals
A federal 24/7 coordination center should take full responsibility for receiving and managing all sighting reports from the coast guard, fisheries, and the general public. This enables immediate action and ensures that diagnostic and response teams can be deployed early to prevent strandings whenever possible.
2. Establishment of a Binding National Emergency Chain for marine mammal incidents
Clear responsibilities must be defined for authorities, fire brigades, veterinarians, and specialized response teams.

3. Standardization of Operational Protocols
Uniform procedures must apply nationwide — from the first sighting to the prevention of avoidable strandings — ensuring that coast guard units, authorities, and responsers follow the same operational principles.

4. Immediate Deployment of a Mobile Response Unit
A small, trained team must be able to reach the site within defined response times, assess the animal’s condition, and initiate appropriate measures.
Response Category A – Acute Emergency
·     Response time: ≤ 20 minutes
* Applicable in cases of immediate danger such as strandings, entrapment in mud, respiratory distress, severe disorientation, or visible injuries.

Response Category B – High Risk, but not an acute emergency
* Response time: ≤ 60 minutes
* Applicable when animals are in shallow waters, harbors, or other risk zones, or when unusual behavior indicates emerging distress.

Response Category C – Routine deployment / sighting without suspicion
* Response time: ≤ 6 hours
* Applicable for sightings of apparently healthy animals in safe coastal areas.

We, the undersigned parents of Hlanganani Secondary School, respectfully appeal for the immediate lifting of the suspension placed on our principal. The leadership and guidance provided by the principal have played a vital role in maintaining discipline, academic progress, and stability within the school.
The absence of the principal has created uncertainty and disruption among learners, staff, and parents. We believe that the situation warrants reconsideration, and we kindly request that the relevant authorities review the matter with fairness and urgency.
We respectfully request that the principal be reinstated by 4 May 2026, in the best interest of the learners and the continued smooth functioning of the school. We trust that due process will be followed and that a decision will be made that prioritizes the well-being and academic success of all learners.

We, the undersigned, call upon the U.S. Trade Representative and Congress to impose a total ban on the importation of Canadian-made beer, wine, and spirits.
Stop Endangering Student Athletes

Petition to the Tooele County School Board to Stop Endangering Student Athletes
Subject: Urgent Request for Safety Mitigation: Stansbury High School Tennis/Baseball Interface
I. Statement of Purpose
We, the undersigned coaches, parents, student-athletes, and concerned community members, formally petition the Tooele County School Board to rectify a persistent and dangerous safety hazard at Stansbury High School. The current proximity and orientation of the baseball field to the tennis courts have created a high-risk environment wherein foul balls frequently enter the tennis playing area at high velocities.
II. The Current Hazard
The tennis courts are situated at a right angle to the first-base line of the baseball field. This layout results in:
* Frequent Incursions: Multiple foul balls land within the tennis courts every week.
* Recent Escalation: On Friday, April 10, 2026, during a single baseball practice, over 20 baseballs landed within the tennis courts.
* Vulnerability: Unlike baseball players, tennis players do not wear helmets. They are focused on their own sport and cannot reasonably be expected to monitor the baseball field for incoming projectiles while competing.

III. Medical and Liability Risk
While reported injuries have thus far been limited to bruises and welts, the potential for a catastrophic event is undeniable. A baseball strike to the head can result in:
* Grade 3 Concussions
* Skull Fractures
* Intracranial Hemorrhage (Brain Bleed)

The district is now on formal notice of this specific hazard. Failure to act on a known, recurring danger significantly increases the district's liability in the event of a traumatic injury.
IV. Alignment with District Values
The Tooele County School District has repeatedly stated its commitment to providing “high-quality and well-maintained facilities." The district has even recently prioritized the irrigation of fields during drought conditions to prevent injuries from hard ground. We argue that the risk of a high-velocity baseball impact is a far more critical safety threat than dry turf and deserves commensurate attention and action. Relying on luck to avoid a traumatic brain injury is not a safety strategy.
V. Proposed Solutions
We expect a permanent structural or logistical solution that does not involve "partial use" of facilities. Restricting baseball players to 2/3 of their field or tennis players to 2/3 of their courts is unacceptable and hinders athletic development. We request the board investigate:
1. Installation of high-rise safety netting along the first-base line.
2. Raising the existing perimeter fencing to a height sufficient to intercept foul balls.
3. Relocation of either the courts or the field as a long-term infrastructure project.

VI. Deadline for Action
This issue has been raised with SHS coaches, the Athletic Director, and school administration for several years with no resolution. We expect a mitigation plan to be approved and installed prior to the start of the Girls' Tennis season in August 2026.
Every student-athlete deserves to focus on their game without fearing for their physical safety.

Protect Our Kids. Implement Vape Detectors in NYC Schools

As concerned parents, educators, and community members, we call for the installation of vape detectors in the bathrooms of New York City public schools. Since the legalization of marijuana, we have witnessed a significant increase in vape use among students, and it has created an environment that jeopardizes their health and educational experience. Current anti-vaping policies are proving ineffective due to the challenges of detection
By implementing vape detectors, we can create a safer school environment, deter vaping, and promote healthier choices among our youth. This initiative not only supports the well-being of our students but also aligns with our collective commitment to foster a positive educational atmosphere.
We urge the following officials to take swift action:
- Members of the Local School Board
- The Chancellor and Superintendents of Schools
- City Council Representatives
- State Legislators
- The Mayor's Office
- The New York City Department of Education. NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
Together, let’s ensure that our schools remain safe, supportive spaces for all students.Please Sign this petition to advocate for the health and future of our children!

Residents and visitors currently face unsafe conditions when attempting to access Lambeth Reserve due to the absence of appropriate pedestrian crossing infrastructure on Henry Lawson Drive.
Henry Lawson Drive is a high-traffic, high-speed roadway, making it extremely difficult and dangerous for pedestrians to cross safely.
There are no clearly marked crossings, pedestrian signals, or adequate traffic calming measures in the vicinity of the reserve. As a result, individuals are often forced to cross at unprotected points, increasing the risk of accidents.

I am writing to share serious concerns regarding the 1:1 Chromebook initiative for first-grade students. While I appreciate the district's commitment to modernization, providing personal devices to six- and seven-year-olds presents significant risks to their cognitive development and academic foundations.
At this critical developmental stage, children are in a "concrete operational" phase where learning is most effective through tactile, three-dimensional experiences. Extensive screen time at school disrupts the development of fine motor skills—such as handwriting and manual manipulation—which are neurologically linked to literacy and memory retention. Replacing physical books and paper with digital interfaces can impede "deep reading" habits, often leading to skimming behaviors rather than the focused comprehension required for early literacy.
Furthermore, the 1:1 model creates unnecessary complications in the classroom environment:
* Cognitive Overload: Rapidly changing visuals and interactive notifications can overstimulate young brains, shortening attention spans and making it harder for students to focus on traditional, non-digital instruction.
* Social Impediments: Early childhood education relies heavily on social cues and collaborative play. Individual screens create "digital silos" that reduce vital face-to-face peer interaction.
* Resource Reliability: Technical glitches, battery issues, and connectivity problems frequently stall lesson momentum, shifting the teacher’s role from educator to IT troubleshooter.

Studies from organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and various educational psychologists suggest that "high-tech" does not always equate to "high-growth" for early learners. I urge the district to reconsider the 1:1 mandate for the first grade and instead prioritize a balanced approach that emphasizes sensory-rich, peer-to-peer learning.
Thank you for your time and for your dedication to our children’s best interests.

If you don't know, there was a new feature added in Tiktok where AI can reuse your content (https://www.pedestrian.tv/online/tiktok-ai-remix-setting-creators-backlash/), in order to cancel/remove the feature you have to manually switch it off... But, it will just switch it back on again on every new video, and It will also "re-use" your PRIVATE videos and worse of all your DRAFTS.
This is really outrageous, Tiktok had lost its understanding of security and privacy on this app when it comes to Generative AI. As an artist myself, my biggest fear is AI re-using my Art. I've spent Hours on creating something from my mind and soul only to be replaced by a soulless robot. And to you who maybe make private Tiktok with your face or other private thing, will not like it if AI re-use your privacy as profit.
Let's come together as a community and and put an end to this feature, We want content made by humans, for humans.

Lower Wellesley Park is a cherished gathering place for local residents, offering sweeping views of the mountain and River Derwent, and supporting a wide range of activities, including informal recreation (e.g. picnics, ball games, cycling practice), community events (e.g. Sweet Beats on My Street, Kunanyi Mountain Run), and use of the adjacent playground.
Barrierefreie Gehwege jetzt: Für sichere Wege in Niederschönhausen

Many surgeries need to be done without anaesthesia (https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/08/1165713). Most medical infrastructure is destroyed. Hundreds of people have died while waiting for Medical Evacuations (MedEvacs) –approximately 2 persons per day since July 2024 (931 casualties in 450 days, see report, page 3 (https://www.emro.who.int/images/stories/palestine/sitrep66.pdf)).
We are advocating for injured children to obtain admission to Munich hospitals, so they can receive the necessary medical and psychological care they need, as well as being assisted to return safely to Gaza.
We are convinced of this being our duty in an open, moral and value-based society. To:
The Mayor and Councillors
Moree Plains Shire Council
From:
Residents, ratepayers, Aboriginal community members, sporting groups, families, students and supporters of Taylors Oval
Save Taylors Oval
We, the undersigned residents and members of the Moree Plains Shire community, strongly oppose the proposed construction of a new swimming pool at Taylors Oval. We believe that Taylors Oval should remain in its original state as a vital community space, and we urge local authorities to reconsider this plan.
Our Request:
We respectfully request that the Moree Plains Shire Council:
* Cancel the plans for the construction of a new swimming pool at Taylors Oval.
* Preserve Taylors Oval as an open space for recreational purposes, community events, and outdoor activities.
* Engage the community in discussions about alternative solutions to fulfill the need for swimming facilities without compromising our cherished green spaces.
* Recognise and respect the Aboriginal cultural heritage associated with Taylors Oval in all future decisions regarding the site.

Make Big Polluters Pay Their Fair Share: Tweed Shire

We support big coal, oil and gas corporations paying their fair share for the costs of climate change. Local councils and residents shouldn’t be left holding the bill while corporations pocket the profits.
We call on Tweed Shire to pass a Polluter Pays motion to support a Climate Compensation Fund, which would help protect local services, strengthen and repair infrastructure, and fund disaster response and preparedness – ensuring our community can stay safe and thrive.
Council should formally call on the Australian Federal Government to:

* Establish a Climate Compensation Fund, paid for by a levy on major coal, oil and gas export corporations – not ratepayers and taxpayers;
* Earmark funds for local councils to cover the rising costs of climate adaptation, disaster recovery and resilience;
* Provide sustained, legislated funding so councils can plan for the future with certainty; and
* Prioritise protecting ratepayers and taxpayers from bearing the escalating costs of climate damage.

* Sicherheit für Frauen und Senioren: 👠👵🏼♀️Die totale Dunkelheit schafft "Angsträume". Es ist unzumutbar, dass Frauen nachts mit Angst aus dem Auto steigen oder den Heimweg antreten müssen.
* Gefahr für Berufstätige:
* 🚗🅿️♂️Viele Bürger arbeiten in Schichten. Auf komplett unbeleuchteten Parkplätzen ist es fast unmöglich, das eigene Auto sicher zu finden oder unbeschadet den Gehweg zu nutzen (Sturzgefahr!).
* Einschränkung des Alltags:
* 🐕🏠🐾Ob man den Hund spät abends ausführen muss oder Gäste empfängt – der mitleidige Blick von Besuchern aus dem Ausland zeigt, wie rückständig diese Situation wirkt. Gäste müssen förmlich "nach Hause rennen", um nicht im märkischen Dunkel zu landen.
* Schutz der Jugend:
* 💃🏼🪩🥂Auch junge Menschen, die am Wochenende spät heimkehren, verdienen einen beleuchteten und damit sicheren Heimweg.

💡Wir fordern nicht die Verschwendung von Energie, sondern intelligente Alternativen wie LED-Dimmung oder Bewegungssensoren. Sicherheit darf nicht erst nach Sonnenaufgang beginnen!🔦

Save Krumovitsa Special Protection Area! No wind turbines in the vultures’ home!

Will SPA “Krumovitsa”, part of the European Natura 2000 network, be transformed into an industrial zone with 26 wind turbines as tall as a 70-storey skyscraper? We have very little time to prevent this and act.
Let us preserve the skies of eagles and vultures, protect the unique natural landscape, and safeguard biodiversity, pastoral livestock farming, and sustainable tourism opportunities in the region.
Sign the petition now.
Why is this area so valuable?
The Eastern Rhodopes and the Krumovitsa River valley near Krumovgrad are among the most biodiversity-rich and well-preserved natural areas in Bulgaria and Europe.
SPA Krumovitsa hosts an exceptional diversity of animal and plant species — including birds, bats, reptiles, mammals, and rare plants — many of which are protected and globally threatened.
As part of the Natura 2000 network, SPA Krumovitsa is one of the key sites in Bulgaria for the conservation of the threatened vulture species.
In the area you can see:
* The globally Endangered Egyptian vulture, whose population is slowly stabilising after decades of international conservation efforts along its flyway;
* The Cinereous vulture, which until recently was extinct in Bulgaria and is now returning as a result of population reinforcement and target conservation actions.
* The Griffon vulture, a symbol of the Eastern Rhodopes, has survived only in this region after disappearing from the rest of the country during the last century.

This is not just a protected area — it is a place where nature and people coexist in balance.
Thanks to its rich biodiversity and cultural-historical significance, the region attracts tourists, nature enthusiasts, photographers, and researchers from Bulgaria and abroad. Truly intact natural areas of this kind are becoming increasingly rare.
Krumovitsa is one of them — yet today it faces a real and immediate threat.
What is happening?
A wind energy project for the construction of 26 wind turbines and associated power infrastructure is planned in the region, directly within the SPA “Krumovitsa”.
Each turbine is expected to reach a height of approximately 250 metres — exceeding that of a 70-storey building. This represents large-scale industrial development in one of the most valuable natural areas in Bulgaria and Europe.
The project poses a serious risk not only to biodiversity but also to tourism, the local economy, and the region's overall character. It would permanently alter the iconic natural landscape — one of the primary reasons people visit the area.
What is the concern?
Wind turbines in areas of high conservation value cause serious impact::
* Causes collisions and mortality among birds and bats;
* Create barrier effects that disrupt bird migration routes;
* Displace wildlife from key habitats and nesting areas;
* Generate noise disturbance;
* Alter the natural landscape.

Vultures fly at the height of turbine blades and rely on the ridges where the turbines will be built as a critical area for feeding, movement, and gaining altitude.
There are places that cannot be replaced once lost!
What would happen if the project is implemented?
* More than 20% of SPA Krumovitsa would be affected.
* Direct mortality of globally threatened species will be provoked.

The following species would suffer the most:
* Nearly 60% of Bulgaria’s Egyptian vulture population (only around 35 breeding pairs remain in the country);
* The Griffon vulture, whose successful recovery in the last decades could be reversed;
* The first Cinereous vultures breeding again in the Eastern Rhodopes after decades, as part of an ongoing reintroduction programme;
* Decades of conservation efforts dedicated to restoring vulture populations and ecosystems in the Eastern Rhodopes;
* The natural integrity of yet another Special Protection Area as part of Nature 2000 network in Bulgaria.

The impacts would extend beyond wildlife:
* Local livelihoods, such as pastoral livestock farming , will be affected;
* The region’s attractiveness for tourism would significantly decline;
* Opportunities for sustainable development would be reduced;
* Noise disturbance would affect nearby settlements.

At the same time, the generated electricity would be fed into the national grid, without providing direct economic benefits or reduced energy costs for local communities.
We support the development of renewable energy.
However:
* Not every location is suitable for such projects;
* Scientific evidence clearly indicates that certain areas must be preserved, as their loss would cause irreversible damage to nature and society.

Special Protection Area “Krumovitsa” is one such place.

An open letter to the United Nations condemning war against Iran

Dear Ms. Dabo,
Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights,
We write to express our grave concern regarding the military actions carried out on 28th February 2026 by the United States of America and Israel against Iran. These actions constitute violations of international law, including the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
On the first day of this violation of international law, an elementary school in Minab was bombed twice. More recent strikes by the USA and Israel have destroyed three universities.
According to available reports, these attacks have so far resulted in significant human loss and widespread suffering in Iran. Approximately 2,000 have been killed, including more than 200 children (https://www.unicef.org/press-releases/child-casualties-rise-amidst-deepening-middle-east-conflict), and over 20,000 individuals have been injured. It is further estimated that around three million people have been displaced due to the extensive destruction of residential areas caused by the Israel and USA bombardments.
This illegal act of Aggression has caused severe damage to critical civilian infrastructure. At least 300 medical facilities and 42 ambulances have been bombed, with seven hospitals evacuated since 28 February. These include key institutions such as the Pasteur Center for Public Health and Medical research, as well as 13 pharmaceutical facilities.
The USA and Israel have conducted extensive airstrikes on civilian energy and industrial infrastructures, including a water facility in Qeshm, three oil refineries, the south Pars gas field, major steel production sites such as Mobarakeh Steel in Isfahan and Khuzestan Steel in Ahvaz and petrochemical complexes in Khuzestan. Further strikes hit a bridge in Azimieh and damaged the Haghani Port in the southern city of Bandar Abbas.
We, the undersigned, call upon The United Nations to condemn these acts of aggression and to take urgent action to address what constitutes violations of international law. We urge the United Nations to demand an immediate cessation of American and Israeli attacks.
Civilians and civilian infrastructures – including energy facilities – are protected under international humanitarian law and must be respected and safeguarded at all times.
We further urge the United Nations to take all necessary measures to ensure that the governments of the United States and Israel immediately cease their military actions against Iran and uphold their obligations under international law.
Yours sincerely

Stop State-Funded Dehumanization: Penalize Media Racism

German public television is currently using your money to fund dehumanization. A recent segment on ZDF’s Volle Kanne relied on harmful, racist tropes against the Asian community, disguised as "humor." This isn’t just a bad joke; it’s a dangerous tool of "othering."
When we allow state-funded media to normalize these stereotypes, we fuel a cultural war. This rhetoric creates the psychological justification for social exclusion and, ultimately, armed conflict. We cannot ignore the destruction caused by "casual" racism in our living rooms.
We are demanding a new law for the Rundfunkbeitrag. If a show is found by an independent body to have promoted dehumanizing tropes, its funding must be frozen. That money should be immediately diverted to anti-discrimination NGOs and the communities targeted by the broadcast.
Public funds must serve the public good, not feed the fires of hate. Sign this petition to demand financial accountability and an end to state-funded dehumanization. Let’s stop paying for our own division.

No selection process for HSG students on almost all Master’s programmes in Business Administration!

We demand an immediate halt to the measures aimed at destroying our university culture and career prospects.
The administration of the University of St. Gallen plans to leave business administration bachelor’s students out in the cold and actively undermine the university’s culture and student organizations.
The new measures are clearly directed against the students who have been bringing this university to life for years and are actively committed to it; yet, with increasing pressure on the job market, the university has decided, for the sake of cost-cutting measures, to leave Bachelor’s students in Business Administration out in the cold after they graduate.
External students are to be treated the same as HSG alumni, but aren’t there qualitative differences in teaching? Why study at this university if the degree doesn’t even offer added value in internal selection processes?
Furthermore, students are the easiest target for such cost-cutting measures. While a new campus is being built and professors receive massive pay raises, the burden of these cost-cutting measures is being shifted onto the students themselves.
We are increasingly convinced that an internal decision was made to take the path of least resistance: these measures were announced on the Friday before the break to suppress any immediate resistance, and they target the most vulnerable group—students who lack organized resistance groups like a union.
The impact on the spirit of this university is also significant: if the majority of bachelor’s students no longer have the opportunity to complete their master’s degree at their alma mater, student engagement will decline drastically.
For bachelor’s students, it is rather difficult to get involved in the assessment process; in the second year, however, some level of engagement can be expected. However, this will likely drop off again in the third year, as the focus will then shift to applying to other universities and looking for jobs, since no one can be certain they will be able to complete their master’s degree at HSG.
For external master’s students, getting involved is generally difficult, as the adjustment period and the job search in the second year occur so close together.

Break the silence: stop social media with deleting awareness content about abuse and violence

When victims of violence are made invisible, more than just reach is being limited.
Today, it happens more and more often that posts about abuse, intimate partner violence, or sexual violence are removed or made less visible on social media.
Even when those posts are specifically intended to inform, warn, or support victims.
Think, for example, of posts that explain toxic relationships, femicide, or boundary violations — these are sometimes automatically flagged as “offensive” and disappear.
That has real consequences.
Less visibility means:
- less access to information
- less recognition for victims
- less chance of finding help
And so, silence is imposed once again — this time online.
Of course, moderation is necessary.
But today, it often happens without context, which means the wrong kind of content gets targeted.
That is why this petition calls for fairer and clearer moderation on social media, so that awareness content about violence and abuse is no longer unfairly restricted.
Victims do not need censorship.
They need visibility.
So let’s break the silence together.

Petition against the EU imposing sanctions on private individuals within and outside the EU

The previously unknown practice of the EU to impose disproportionately severe restrictions on freedoms and economic sanctions on citizens (a total of 59 journalists and academics) both within the EU (such as the German Hüseyin Doğru) and outside the EU (most recently the Swiss Jacques Baud) raises fundamental questions about freedom of expression, the rule of law, and democratic fundamental rights.[1]
Such sanctions represent a unilateral instrument of power and – since they are considered a preventive measure – can effectively deprive critics of political decisions of their fundamental rights without a valid legal charge and largely outside the public eye, in order to 'persuade' them to change their behaviour.
The consequences for those affected:
* No entry into the EU and no transit through EU territory (de facto freedom of travel within the EU is revoked).
* Assets within the EU are frozen, meaning no access to bank balances or real estate (prohibition of disposal).
* Prohibition on providing financial means or economic resources, and prohibition on providing services (de facto ban on working within the EU).
* Prohibition on continuing already concluded contracts (prohibition of performance).

The new EU Directive (EU) 2024/1226 stipulates that violations of sanctions, such as providing funds or circumventing sanctions, now constitute criminal offences punishable by significant fines and/or up to five years' imprisonment.
Those affected must apply to their own governments for financial assistance for rent and basic necessities.
All of this is done without informing those affected of their inclusion on the list, without a hearing, and without a valid legal charge.
Those affected can only appeal to the European Court of Justice. This incurs exorbitant legal costs, which the sanctioned individuals can neither earn themselves nor finance through donations.
Sanctions against individuals based on political expression set a dangerous precedent and open the door wide to arbitrary repression.
Meanwhile, a legal opinion has been commissioned by two Members of the European Parliament.[2] The authors are Professor Dr. Alina Miron, an international law scholar from the University of Angers, and Professor Dr. Ninon Colneric, former judge at the European Court of Justice. It was presented on 11 November 2025 in the European Parliament.
Their verdict is clear: The sanctions against journalists such as Hüseyin Doğru, and more recently also against the Swiss military and intelligence expert Jacques Baud, lack a solid legal basis. The EU's concept of disinformation is "dangerously vague" and does not even come close to meeting the minimum rule-of-law standards that are absolutely essential for serious infringements of fundamental rights such as account freezes and travel bans. The EU has in fact imposed professional bans without prior hearing – a Rubicon has been crossed.

Hillcrest High School uniform introducing year 13 uniforms and a senior blazer

Petition to the School Board Regarding Year 13 Uniform Policy Changes
We, the undersigned parents, caregivers, and students, formally express our strong opposition to the recent decision requiring Year 13 students to wear full school uniform and the newly introduced blazer
This decision is deeply concerning for several reasons:
1. Significant Financial Burden The addition of a blazer at a cost of approximately $220 places an unnecessary and inequitable financial strain on families. Many are already managing the high cost of existing uniform items, and this further expense is unjustified.
2. Disregard for Community Feedback We understand that feedback from students and families regarding this proposal was overwhelmingly negative. Proceeding with the policy despite this feedback undermines trust and raises serious concerns about whether the school community is being meaningfully heard.
3. Lack of Practicality and Purpose Year 13 students are senior members of the school community. Imposing uniform requirements at this stage does not clearly support learning outcomes, student wellbeing, or school culture in a meaningful or evidence-based way.
4. Uniform Quality and Student Wellbeing The current uniform has been widely described as uncomfortable, poorly made, and not fit for purpose. In particular, the materials used can be scratchy and irritating, which poses real challenges for students with sensory sensitivities and those who are neurodivergent. A uniform policy should be inclusive and supportive of all students, not create additional barriers to comfort, focus, and wellbeing.
Before introducing any further uniform items, or uniform rules we strongly believe the school should review and improve the quality, comfort, and accessibility of the existing uniform.
Our Request We respectfully call on the School Board to:
1. Reconsider and reverse the decision to mandate full uniform for Year 13 students
2. Reconsider and reverse the decision to bring out the blazer.
3. Engage in genuine consultation with students and families, with transparent consideration of feedback
4. Review the current uniform to ensure it is comfortable, inclusive, and fit for purpose for all students
5.Consider more flexible uniform options for senior students that reflect their status and diverse needs
6.We urge the Board to work collaboratively with the school community to reach a solution that is fair, practical, and respectful of student wellbeing.

Safety for independent Iranian diaspora activists

Hereby, we, the undersigned, call on international law enforcement agencies, including the RCMP, Europol, and Interpol, as well as human rights organizations, to investigate and take immediate action against a growing wave of organized violence and digital persecution done by the Iranian diaspora monarchists targeting independent Iranian activists.
This group of extremists have already threatened opposers of the Iranian monarchy for countless number of times and by different means; including direct threats to physical harm, rape, etc. through social media platforms and directly during protests on the streets of European countries, Canada, United States, etc.
A recent murder case conducted by the Canada police department found Masoud Masjoudi, an Iranian mathematician and activist residence of Canada, murdered by two Iranian monarchists: Mehdi Ahmadzadeh Razavi (48) and Arezou Soltani (45), both residents of British Columbia. The motive is still under investigation (RCMP (https://rcmp.ca/en/bc/ihit/news/2026/03/4351260), The Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/17/two-men-court-murder-iranian-activist-canada), Global News (https://globalnews.ca/news/11731285/bc-masjoody-remains-2-arrested/)).
The new dangerous terroristic movement:
Now, they have created a website ( freeiranact.com (https://freeiranact.com) ) which is a platform designed for reporting and listing private information (including name, photo, full address, social media handles, etc.) of any anti-monarchist person from Iranian diaspora, who has spoken by any means against the previous Iranian regime. They document photos of people in protests, screenshots of their comments and posts on social media, etc. and provide a platform for adding to this list and extending it.
In our opinion this website is a very dangerous call for terror, and if its owners and organizers are not arrested, it can lead to serial murders or physical harms done by monarchists to people listed in the website, most of whom are residents of the European countries, Canada, United States, etc.
We urge the police departments to help preventing this terroristic movement and protecting the residents.

Dobsonville Housing Project

We want the department of housing to "halt" the housing development in Dobsonville for a number of reasons. We had our Community Development Planning (CDP) and put down a couple of projects which are a priority in our area.
1. Improve our road infrastructure, there is too much congestion in our area . There was a project that was earmarked to build a road where the department intends to build houses. Building more houses in our area will exacerbate the traffic congestion.
2. Will worsen the issue of electricity, in which investment should be put on improving the infrastructure. Currently, most of the street lights are not working.
3. We have water throttling issues in our area, maintenance and repair of the water infrastructure is critical. With the new development of houses, it will create more strain.
4. Our roads need to be retarred, there are potholes in almost every street.
5. Our community hall is dilapidated

As a community, we appreciate the issue of human settlement - unfortunately its an issue our government will not resolve by building houses everywhere in areas where residents are already crammed for space.

Save Kira Child Care Centre

KU Kira is more than just a childcare centre; it is the heart of our community. For years, it has provided a safe, high-quality, not-for-profit space for our children to grow. Now, Sydney Water plans to sell off this vital public land for private profit, forcing our centre to close by year-end and leaving local families stranded. We cannot stand by while essential social infrastructure is stripped away during a national childcare crisis. Join us in demanding that the NSW Government steps in to stop the sale, renew the lease, and protect KU Kira for the next generation of local kids

🇬🇧
We demand from MVG:
1. Transparency: Publish an annual, per-line disruption statistics report for all U-Bahn lines
2. A concrete infrastructure plan for the U6 northern section (Kieferngarten–Garching-Forschungszentrum), with a binding timeline to address structural weak points — especially the Fröttmaning switch system
3. A dedicated contact person at MVG for U6 commuters
4. A publicly available contingency plan for major disruptions on the U6 northern corridor — including a pre-defined express bus service (e.g. Studentenstadt → Garching-Forschungszentrum direct, complemented by a stopping service for intermediate stations), to be activated automatically and promptly once a disruption crosses a defined threshold. Commuters should be informed of this plan in advance.

Open Letter: Support Spain’s Stand Against War with Iran Dear Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Dear

Open Letter: Support Spain’s Stand Against War with Iran
Dear Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez,
Dear Members of the Spanish Government,
Dear Representatives of the Governments and Institutions of Europe,
We wish to express our strong support for the position taken by the Spanish government in firmly rejecting a war against Iran and in refusing to allow Spanish territory to be used for such a military escalation.
At a time of rising international tensions, when a military confrontation risks spreading across the Middle East and further destabilizing the international order, Spain is sending an important signal: a war without international legitimacy must not receive support.
At the same time, Spain has made clear that rejecting war does not in any way imply support for the policies of the Iranian regime. The repression of civil society, serious human rights violations, and destabilizing activities in the region give rise to grave concern. It is therefore both possible and necessary to clearly criticize and oppose these policies while rejecting a military intervention that would further escalate violence and undermine international law. Such a war would bring neither democracy nor security, stability, or justice to the region.
We particularly welcome the decision of the Spanish government not to authorize the use of the U.S. military bases in Rota and Morón for attacks against Iran. Although these bases are jointly operated with the United States, they remain under Spanish sovereignty and must not be used for military actions that contradict the principles of the Charter of the United Nations or contribute to further escalation. This decision demonstrates that governments can exercise their sovereign responsibility even under international pressure.
The position of your government builds on a strong democratic tradition within Spanish civil society: the clear message “No a la guerra” — No to war. This message became especially visible during the massive protests against the Iraq War in 2003, when millions of people in Spain took to the streets to oppose a military intervention without international legitimacy. Today, this message resonates far beyond Spain.
The Science4Peace Forum together with other organizations therefore calls on other European governments, as well as representatives from academia, civil society, and politics across Europe, to support this position and to follow Spain’s example:

* to refuse participation in the war and oppose further escalation;
* to deny the use of their territory, airspace, and military bases for offensive operations related to this conflict;
* to work within the European Union and the United Nations toward de-escalation and the resumption of diplomatic negotiations;
* to reaffirm that respect for international law is the indispensable foundation of responsible security policy.

Europe should not become a logistical platform for the expansion of war. Instead, it should play a constructive role in promoting diplomacy, restraint, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Spain’s decision shows that even in times of great international tension it is possible to resist pressure toward escalation and to stand firmly for diplomacy, international law, and peace.
At this dangerous moment in international politics, such a position is of particular importance.

Justice for the victims in Iran

Germany has committed itself internationally to the protection of human rights and the prosecution of the most serious crimes. Through the principle of universal jurisdiction in German law, it is possible to investigate the most serious international crimes regardless of where they were committed.
This instrument has already been used to secure evidence of crimes related to the Syrian civil war and to document possible war crimes in connection with the attack on Ukraine.
Against this background, many people find it difficult to understand why a request by around 70 German-Iranian public figures to the Federal Public Prosecutor General to document possible crimes of the Iranian regime was rejected.
The documentation of possible international crimes does not constitute a presumption of guilt. It is a tool to secure evidence, support victims, and prepare for possible future legal proceedings under the rule of law.
If Germany claims to strengthen international justice, this principle should be applied universally.
We therefore call for:
• A reconsideration of the rejection of this request by the Federal Public Prosecutor General.
• Transparency regarding the legal reasons for this decision.
• An examination of whether structural investigations can be initiated to document possible international crimes in Iran.
Human rights are universal. The investigation of serious crimes must not be selective.

Not grown up at 18! 🇪🇺

Important note: This is the expanded version of my petition. Since the first version had technical limitations, I created this upgrade to directly address the German Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJ) and to integrate the EU-wide perspective.
The German Bundestag and the Federal Government (BMJ) are requested to resolve: To implement a staged adulthood model until the age of 21. We demand protection based on scientific brain development while preserving political rights.
Core Demands:
* Protection at 21: Minimum age for tobacco, crypto-trading, gambling, and hard spirits raised to 21 years.
* Juvenile Law: Uniform application until age 21.
* Against Conscription: 18-year-olds should not be drafted for conscription (Wehrpflicht) while still being in a phase of biological development. Full national duties should only begin at age 21.
* Participation at 18: Voting rights remain at 18 years.
* Special status: Extra protection for 21-25 year olds, when in education or needing more time for a safe orientation.

Why this reform?
We are starting in Germany to create a blueprint for a modern EU-wide adulthood law. We demand laws that reflect the reality of human development!

Stop Motorbike And Scooter Noise In Dénia

For years, residents of Dénia have been forced to endure increasing levels of unnecessary and illegal noise caused by modified 50cc motorbikes with altered exhaust systems.
These bikes are frequently driven through residential streets creating excessive noise, often late at night and early in the morning. Many of these vehicles have clearly been modified to bypass legal sound limits. The result is constant disturbance for residents, families, and people who work from home.
This is not simply an inconvenience. It is a serious quality-of-life issue affecting thousands of residents.
Families with children, elderly residents, and workers are being subjected to daily noise pollution that could easily be prevented through proper enforcement of existing laws.
European and Spanish legislation already address this issue, including the Environmental Noise Directive 2002/49/EC and Ley 37/2003 del Ruido, which require authorities to monitor and control environmental noise.
However, enforcement in Dénia appears to be inconsistent or insufficient.
Residents are therefore asking the Ayuntamiento de Dénia and the Policía Local de Dénia to take immediate and visible action.

Our cemeteries, a places of peace are under siege:
tombstones shattered by repeated vandalism, graves hidden beneath overgrown grass and dense bushes, access roads so damaged and impassable that families struggle to visit, and basic maintenance neglected for far too long.
This is not just neglect; it's a profound disrespect to our ancestors, our families, and every member of our community. Vandalism continues even where security is claimed to exist. Grass grows unchecked, turning respectful sites into eyesores. Roads crumble, making it heartbreaking and difficult to reach those we cherish. Enough is enough!
We will no longer accept excuses. This petition calls on the Dihlabeng Local Municipality to take immediate and decisive action:

Fair digital identity verification for NZ driver licence holders with single-field names

Online (and all other digital) identity verification should work with all legally issued identity documents – specifically NZ driving licences, which are commonly used as primary ID. In countries such as Malaysia, passports record the full legal name in a single field rather than separating first and last names. As a result, the New Zealand Transport Agency(NZTA) licence’s record stores the entire name in the surname field and leaves the first name blank.
Most online verification systems require users to enter both a first and last name. However, due to the reasons described above, we are unable to complete verification. The NZ driver licence is intended to serve as proof of identity and to facilitate access to services, yet because of this system design we are unable to do even simple things such as applying for Wi-Fi, as providers tell us that verification must be completed online and they cannot assist otherwise.
We strongly request greater transparency and system compatibility from government and service providers. Online verification systems should accommodate legally valid identity formats or provide alternative manual verification pathways so that residents with NZ driving licences can complete identity checks and access essential services.

Science is in danger in Georgia. On 16 October 2025, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced a plan to reform universities. This plan envisages the implementation of a ‘one city, one faculty’ policy, which would result in each state university maintaining only one faculty per city through a process of 'reorganization.' On 12 February 2026, these plans were formalized, effectively putting an end to interdisciplinarity and university autonomy—two principles essential to the functioning of science.
Certain institutions are being specifically targeted. For example, Ilia State University is set to lose more than 90% of its disciplines and programs, including the PhD Programme for Socio-Cultural Anthropology. These discontinued disciplines and programs are to be transferred to other state universities already co-opted by the government, primarily Tbilisi State University. In addition, academic disciplines are to be reorganized hierarchically, with only one full professor at the top, followed by associate and assistant professors. This top-down organization ensures strict control over the academic content to be taught.
Ilia State University’s anthropology program is recognized as the country’s foremost hub for anthropological research and teaching, building vital international partnerships and preparing scholars who are fully integrated into global academic networks. It’s the first of its kind, bringing local ethnographic tradition and international scholarship together with multiple international partners, a board of advisors, and the first in the field to establish stipends and scholarships for students. Abolishing this program is part of this regime's larger goal of isolating academia and civil society internationally.
Anthropology is in danger in Georgia. If the ‘one city, one faculty’ policy were to be applied, it is highly likely that certain research topics and approaches that run counter to the prevailing doctrine of the ruling party will no longer be taught, e.g., referring to gender or social activism. Anthropology would be streamlined toward state-nationalist objectives and agendas, in line with developments in Russia and Belarus. This would disconnect our discipline from its own path of development and growth, distancing it from wider disciplinary debates and ethical standards, and would therefore hinder its integration with international anthropological associations such as the EASA and the AAA. The preservation and development of the field of socio-cultural anthropology is of paramount importance not only for academia but also for society as a whole, both in Georgia and worldwide.
Therefore, the decision made by the Ministry of Education and the government must be reconsidered to ensure the continued functioning and development of socio-cultural anthropology at Ilia State University. We oppose the education reforms and reject any cooperation with, or legitimization of, institutions that place socio-cultural anthropology under state control.
The developments we are witnessing in Georgia are not limited to this state; they are harbingers of growing attacks on undesirable disciplines within increasingly authoritarian political regimes. Please show your solidarity by signing this public statement. Our struggle is also your struggle.

Petition to Protect Jefferson County’s Environment, Agriculture, Heritage, and Property Rights

We, the undersigned residents, property owners, farmers, business owners, and supporters of Jefferson County, respectfully urge the Jefferson County Commission to formally oppose new high-voltage transmission line projects proposed within or crossing Jefferson County.
Jefferson County is defined by its scenic landscapes, productive farmland, historic communities, and strong property rights traditions. Large-scale transmission line infrastructure threatens:

* Electrical Bill — Electricity bills are to increase for every electricity rate payer to help pay for the construction of the new transmission line projects.
* Economic and health impacts — residential properties in proximity to new transmission lines may experience decrease property value and higher rates of Electromagnetic radiation exposure.
* Private property rights — through the potential use of eminent domain for private or out-of-state energy transmission interests.
* Agricultural viability — by fragmenting farmland, restricting farm operations, and reducing land value.
* Viewshed — Structures will be to 200 feet tall, new transmission towers in Jefferson County will be visible for miles.
* Environmental resources — including forests, streams, wildlife habitat, and scenic viewsheds.
* Parks and Recreational resources — Decrease of recreational park acreage, loss of native milkweed patches that feed Monarch butterflies and other pollinators.

* Historic heritage — by impacting protected historic districts, Civil War landscapes, and rural character.

While reliable energy infrastructure is important, transmission projects that primarily serve regional or corporate interests should not impose disproportionate burdens on Jefferson County residents.
We respectfully request that the Jefferson County Commission:

1. Adopt a formal resolution opposing industrial-scale transmission line projects that negatively impact Jefferson County.
2. Advocate before the West Virginia Public Service Commission and relevant federal agencies to protect county interests.
3. Require comprehensive environmental, agricultural, economic, and historic impact studies before supporting any transmission proposal.
4. Support policies that prioritize local input, transparency, and protection of private property rights.

Jefferson County’s long-term prosperity depends on protecting what makes our county unique — its land, heritage, and people.
We stand together to defend our community.

Save Dinokeng Tourism By Fixing Provincial Gravel Roads

The Dinokeng Game Reserve (DGR) and the Cullinan area, as well as the many products surrounding the reserve, depend on the road infrastructure that feeds tourism via the De Wagensdrift (D1333), the Boekenhoutskloof (R734)/Hammanskraal R628 roads, and the Rust de Winter (D48) roads.
The above arteries, which feed both local and international tourism to the area, are currently nonfunctional and, in fact, untraversable. Many tourists, landowners, and members of the nearby community have sustained significant vehicle damage due to the above roads being in extremely dangerous condition.
These poor roads are now threatening the job security and financial viability of more than 100 businesses and about 2,000 employees.

We therefore call upon the German Bundestag to leave the existing prohibitions on egg donation and surrogacy within the Embryo Protection Act untouched.
We, the undersigned, call upon the South African Council for Educators (SACE) to waive or suspend membership fees for qualified but unemployed educators. It is unjust to require professionals who currently have no income to pay mandatory annual fees in order to remain registered. This financial burden disadvantages unemployed educators, limits their professional standing, and creates barriers to accessing employment opportunities when posts become available.
We therefore demand:

* A fair policy recognizing employment status

For many immigration-related applications — such as declarations of commitment (Verpflichtungserklärungen) for stays exceeding 90 days — the Foreigners’ Office at the place of residence of the inviting person is responsible (§§ 68, 71 of the German Residence Act "AufenthG").
Currently, appointments are released online only in very limited numbers and are quickly booked out. There is no waiting list with automatic notification. This leads to long delays, even when all required documents are complete. While declarations of commitment for stays of up to 90 days can be processed at citizens’ offices (Bürgerbüros), longer-term cases cannot.
We request:
1. More appointments released in a predictable manner, with clearly communicated release times and transparent information about expected waiting periods.
2. Improved accessibility, for example through a ticketing or callback system for inquiries.
3. Appointment-free time slots for urgent cases with fixed start dates (e.g., university enrollment or employment contracts).

PETITION FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CAUSE FOR THE CANONISATION OF POPE BENEDICT XVI

Your Excellency Cardinal Marcello Semeraro
Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints
Palazzo delle Congregazioni
00120 Vatican City

3nd February 2026

Subject: Petition for the introduction of the cause for canonisation of His Holiness Benedict XVI – exercise of the right of petition of the faithful

Your Eminence,

With filial devotion and profound respect, we apply to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints as a group of young Catholic faithful united by our love for the teaching, witness of life, and catechesis of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.
This petition is also presented in the exercise of the rights recognised to the faithful by the Code of Canon Law, in particular by can. 212 §§ 2–3, which affirms the right and sometimes the duty of the faithful to make known to their sacred Pastors their needs and spiritual desires, as well as their thoughts on matters concerning the good of the Church, and by can. 215, which recognises the right of the faithful to associate for purposes of charity and piety and to promote the Christian vocation in the world.
Our journey of faith has been decisively enlighted by the teaching of Benedict XVI: the centrality of Christ, the harmony between faith and reason, the depth of the liturgy, the love for the truth, the doctrinal clarity combined with pastoral meekness, and the constant pointing to Christian joy as the fruit of a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus. His works, audiences, homilies, and theological writings continue to nourish our spiritual and intellectual formation.
We recognise in his priestly, episcopal and Petrine life an outstanding example of fidelity to the Church, humbleness, service and dedication to the truth of the Gospel. His witness of prayer, his gentleness of heart, his purity of intention and his love for the Church appear to us as shining examples of Christian virtues lived in an exemplary manner. His renunciation of the active exercise of the Petrine ministry also appears to us as a gesture of great interior freedom and responsibility before God.
Furthermore, we note that his reputation for holiness is alive and widespread among many of the faithful, especially among young people who find in his teachings a sure guide and a source of authentic Christian joy. Many of us have experienced a renewed enthusiasm for the sacramental life, prayer and the study of the faith thanks to his teaching.
For these reasons, in a spirit of ecclesial communion, in accordance with current rules and the prudent discernment of the relevant authorities, we respectfully ask that consideration be given to initiating the cause for canonisation of His Holiness Benedict XVI, so that the Church may officially examine his life, virtues and witness for the benefit of the whole People of God.
We entrust this petition to the wise judgement of the Church and assure you of our prayers for the Holy Father, for You and for the work of the Dicastery.
With devout esteem and filial respect,

Rescind the Alice Springs Town Council's support for Pine Gap

The Alice Springs Town Council currently has a policy in place that supports the continued presence of the Pine Gap military intelligence base (https://www.alicesprings.nt.gov.au/documents/429/joint-defence-facility-pine-gap#:~:text=111-,POLICY%20PURPOSE,Director%2C%20Corporate%20and%20Community%20Services) on Arrernte country 20 kilometres southwest of Mparntwe/ Alice Springs.
This is a problem.
Pine Gap makes all Mparntwe residents less safe and deepens an already systemically unequal local economy. Council support for the spy base makes Mparntwe residents complicit in the violence that the base perpetrates overseas.
With the United States government becoming increasingly aggressive, it is well past time for the base to be disendorsed by all levels of government. Rescinding this policy would signal our community’s rejection of militarism and be a powerful expression of our collective will to work towards, and lobby for, the base’s eventual closure and the return of the land to Arrernte traditional owners.
Join me in urging the Alice Springs Town Council to revoke its policy in support of Pine Gap.
Sign this petition to voice your support for a safer, more peaceful, more economically diverse Mparntwe/ Alice Springs.

This petition calls on the Mayor and administration of West Windsor Township to urgently address deteriorating road conditions and infrastructure within the township, with specific focus on New Village Road and North Post Road.
These are major arterial roads used daily by residents, school traffic, emergency services, and commuters. Both roads currently suffer from extensive potholes, uneven pavement, and poor surface conditions that have persisted over time and continue to worsen. In addition, several commercial and town libraries within the township show signs of declining maintenance and aging infrastructure.

Families Say Stop! Let’s Change Strategy at LIFV

PL/EN below

PL – My, rodzice uczniów Lycée Français de Varsovie (LIFV), odrzucamy obecną strategię, która zagraża trwałości i przyszłości szkoły. Kolejne podwyżki czesnego osiągnęły swoje granice: nadmiernie obciążają rodziny i przyspieszają spadek liczby uczniów.
Wzywamy dyrekcję LIFV oraz AEFE do natychmiastowego podjęcia działań i wdrożenia następujących środków:
1. Trwałego opanowania kosztów, w szczególności kosztów zatrudnienia, oraz dostosowania zasobów kadrowych i infrastruktury do rzeczywistej liczby uczniów.
2. Zaprzestania przerzucania ciężaru finansowego wyłącznie na rodziny, poprzez wykluczenie dalszych podwyżek czesnego bez wcześniejszych reform strukturalnych.
3. Zwiększenia atrakcyjności LIFV poprzez jasną i mierzalną strategię poprawy oferty edukacyjnej i jakości usług, aby zatrzymać spadek liczby uczniów.

EN – We, parents of the Lycée Français de Varsovie (LIFV), reject the current strategy, which threatens the long-term sustainability of the school. Repeated increases in tuition fees have reached their limits: they place an excessive burden on families and further accelerate the decline in student numbers.
We call on the LIFV management and the AEFE to take immediate action by implementing the following measures:
1. Ensure long-term control of expenses, particularly staffing costs, and adjust human and infrastructure resources to actual enrollment levels.
2. Stop placing the financial burden solely on families, by ruling out any further tuition fee increases without prior structural reforms.
3. Restore the attractiveness of the LIFV through a clear and measurable strategy to improve the educational offering and services, in order to halt the decline in enrollment.

Request to offer the Federal Security Officer (FSB/SFB) professional diploma in English

VSSU (Verband Schweizerischer Sicherheitsdienstleistungs-Unternehmen)
State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI / SBFI)
Switzerland has become a major hub for international technology companies and critical infrastructure. Global firms such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Meta, and IBM are investing billions of Swiss francs in infrastructure, operations, and long-term growth in Switzerland. In these international environments, English is commonly used as the working language.
Security professionals working in critical infrastructure sites and high-occupancy venues are expected to follow international standards, communicate clearly under pressure, and respond effectively to emergencies. Yet the Federal professional qualification for security officers (FSB/SFB) is currently offered only in German, French, and Italian. While these languages are essential and should remain available, the absence of an English option creates a barrier for professionals who operate daily in English-speaking environments.

Use of electric dirt bikes in Springs and Meadows communities

To:
Emaar Community Management
Community Management Office
Springs & Meadows
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dear Sir / Madam,
On behalf of families and residents of the Springs community—particularly Springs 3—we would like to begin by acknowledging and sincerely appreciating the continued efforts of Emaar Community Management in creating, maintaining, and enhancing a safe, family-oriented, and well-managed residential environment.
We recognize the considerable investment and care that goes into landscaping, infrastructure, security, and community amenities, all of which contribute to the high quality of life that residents value deeply. It is precisely because of this shared commitment to safety, wellbeing, and responsible community stewardship that we write to you with growing concern regarding a serious and escalating public safety issue within our neighbourhood.
Serious Safety Concerns Regarding the Use of Electric Dirt Bikes in the Community
Residents are increasingly alarmed by the frequent and unsafe use of electric dirt bikes (e-bikes)—as depicted in the imagery circulated in the accompanying petition—on public roads, internal community roads, and pedestrian pathways within the Springs.
For clarity, this concern excludes the appropriate and responsible use of electric bicycles by gardeners, security personnel, and maintenance staff operating in the course of their duties.
Our concerns are threefold:
1.Dangerous and Reckless Operation
The majority of these e-bikes are being operated at excessive speeds, often with deliberate risk-taking behaviours that pose a clear danger to riders, pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and families.
2.Use by Unsupervised Children and Youth
Many of these vehicles are being operated by minors, frequently without adult supervision, training, licensing, or appropriate protective gear—placing both the riders themselves and other community members at significant risk of serious injury or worse.
3.Escalating and Recurrent Incidents
What was once an occasional issue has now become a daily occurrence, with residents—particularly in Springs 3—reporting repeated and distressing incidents, including but not limited to:
* E-bikes riding on one wheel at speed along Al Asayel Road during rush hour
* E-bikes performing wheelies down internal community streets
* High-speed riding along pedestrian pathways, forcing mothers with strollers off the path
* Riders engaging in “chicken” with moving vehicles
* Bullying, aggressive, and intimidating behaviour directed at drivers and pedestrians, including when children are present in vehicles

These behaviours are not merely disruptive; they represent a clear and present public health and safety risk. Families have a reasonable and legitimate expectation to enjoy community roads, walkways, and shared spaces without fear of injury or intimidation caused by the misuse of high-powered motorized vehicles.
Respectful Request for Decisive Action
With respect and in the spirit of collaboration, we formally and respectfully request that Emaar Community Management:

* Ban the use of electric dirt bikes on community roads and pedestrian pathways, and
* Enforce clear rules restricting their operation within residential areas, consistent with safety, legal, and community standards.

These vehicles are inherently powerful and, when used by untrained minors in shared public spaces, can have potentially fatal consequences. They are more appropriately used in non-public environments such as designated off-road areas, dirt tracks, or desert locations where their use is lawful, intended, and safer.
Parallel Engagement with Authorities
Please note that a copy of this letter and the accompanying petition is being shared with Dubai Police, with a respectful request that:

* The use of such e-bikes by youth be prohibited on public roads, and
* Their operation be restricted to appropriate non-public areas in accordance with safety regulations and intended use.

This step is taken not in opposition to Emaar, but in recognition that this issue spans community management, public safety, and traffic enforcement.
Closing
We submit this letter with sincere respect for Emaar Community Management and with appreciation for your leadership and responsiveness in safeguarding family-oriented communities. Our request is made in the shared interest of protecting children, preserving public safety, and maintaining the calm, secure character of the Springs.
We would be grateful to receive confirmation of how this matter will be addressed and what steps may be taken to mitigate further risk.
Thank you for your time, attention, and continued commitment to the wellbeing of residents.
With sincere regards and appreciation,
On behalf of concerned residents and families of Springs 3, with sincere and many thanks.

United Kingdom to join the Creative Europe programme from 2027

This is a Europe-wide petition calling on the UK Government to formally declare the United Kingdom's interest in fully participating in the EU's Creative Europe programme (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/creative-europe) from 2027.
We, the undersigned, citizens from across the EU and the UK, call on the Government of the United Kingdom to:
1. Formally declare the United Kingdom's interest in participating fully in the EU's Creative Europe programme from 2027, to be addressed to the European Commission by May 2026;
2. Enter formal negotiations with the relevant EU institutions with the aim of establishing UK participation in the EU’s Creative Europe programme from 2027;
3. Commit to continue the UK's participation in the follow-up programme to Creative Europe from 2028.

We urge the UK Government to act in the interest of cultural and artistic exchanges, in recognition of the significant contribution of creativity to economic growth, and in support of stronger EU-UK relations.
This petition is an initiative by the Forum on EU-UK Cultural & Media Relations (http://www.forum-uk.eu/).
--
Why does this matter?
The EU and the UK are strategically important partners with historically aligned approaches to research, education, and cultural engagement. In 2024, the UK officially rejoined the Horizon Europe (https://research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu/funding/funding-opportunities/funding-programmes-and-open-calls/horizon-europe_en) research programme as an associated member. In 2025, it was agreed that it will join Erasmus+ (https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/about-erasmus/what-is-erasmus). It is now time for the UK to join Creative Europe.
The Creative Europe programme (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/creative-europe) is a multiplier of creativity. It allows organisations from the Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS) to pool their resources and co-create, develop, and distribute cultural and creative goods and services in a wide range of subjects (ranging from literature and publishing, the performing arts, design, architecture and cultural heritage to music, film and the audiovisual sector, including partnerships with Public Service Broadcasters such as the BBC) for which there is neither sufficient interest from the market nor adequate support from national funding agencies. It strengthens artistic freedom and cultural diversity, supports experimentation and pluralism, engages audiences of all ages, and enhances the lives of hundreds of millions of people. One of its strands, MEDIA (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/creative-europe/creative-europe-media-strand), is an established and well-known brand in the audiovisual sector.
The programme’s impact also goes beyond the CCS. In the 41 countries – many outside the EU – that currently participate in the programme, projects funded under Creative Europe build understanding and positive narratives, support innovation, and contribute to growth.
Regrettably, with the end of the UK’s EU membership, the UK left Creative Europe, hurting the CCS, our societies, and our democracies on both sides of the Channel.

Save the landscape around Fort Napoleon!

The Royal Decree of 6 July 1976 protecting Fort Napoleon and its surroundings is under threat from property developers. They want to fill the area with high-rise apartment buildings. This threatens to destroy this inland dune area (Fortstraat, Vuurtorenweg), an open space of almost 4 hectares (40,000 m²), even though the purpose of the protection decree is precisely to protect this unique area as a cultural-historical landscape! Moreover, an inland dune is the natural biotope at this location and, given the chance, that dune would naturally recover completely with all its specific flora and fauna.
